View Full Version : Will and 88 Heater Control Unit work in an 87?

I have a spare 88 Celica and was wondering IF I take out the 88 unit and do the resoldering, will it work fine in an 87? I don't have them out yet, the buttons look a little different but it could just be style and not function.

Anybody know?

Anybody need any parts from my '88?

if Im not mistaken there is a difference in the dimensions of the box as well. There was a slight tweak of that part of the console that angled it towards the driver more in 88. The openings for the climate control unit (and the stereo for that matter) are differnt.

On JDM's the answer is no, the plugs were the same but the wiring is different.
Yours I'd check the wiring diagrams 1st before blowing something up

The 88 HVAC panel will fit perfectly in your 87, but it's wiring is different, so it won't function correctly. I actually put an 87 into my 88 to see and that's what happened.
Let me see if I still have the 87 HVAC panel...

Are you parting out a entire 88 Celica?

88 will work in an 89 though, so thats some good news at least

Yep, 86-87 are the same, but the 88-89 are different

Lol, I meant JDM 88-89 are the same. JDM 86-87 are the same
Ours are way different from yours with a few extra features

I do have a spare '88 Celica. I bought it for parts for my '87 but all I've used is the starter and radiator. If anybody needs something just shoot me a PM.
