View Full Version : Chrome Polish Help

i bought some rims from my friend. (22" Velocity Wheel VW550)
there appears to be some strange stains on the rims which don't want to come off. i scrubbed them with a heavy duty degrease/water mix on a microfiber and it did nothing. so then i went at it with Mothers Chrome Polish on a microfiber. this seemed to help a little but the stains are still pretty bad.

when you rub over the stain with your hand, the surface is very smooth just very discolored. it's on both the plastic center cap and the chrome rim.

thank you for your time!

Try wenol polish. I'm not sure it will take away the color but it brought back shine to my rims( polished aluminum) after a few winters with the chemicals and crap they put on the roads

You car looks awesome...

I am most concerned about the color... Will it take it or not? Stains are really really bad...

Power drill, buffing wheel fittings, and several stages of polishing compound. The compound acts just like sandpaper, but by staging it properly will give you a mirror finish. Since the stains are usually just on the surface, this should work as it actually takes a thin layer of metal off.

We just went in and bought individual supplies & pieces for what made sense on our projects. They have a tonne of different combination packs, separate items, etc. so it was really easy to get everything we needed.
