Not trying to deter you from our site, but Celica-gts.com will have a few swaps for you to read up on.

yes and/or celicasupra.com

with a few exceptions this forums is populated mostly by FWD and AWD celica owners

isnt a 1JZ a straight 6?? Sticking that into a 4 banger bay will be a B!T%$ wouldnt it? Why not a good V6 like a pontiac 3.1L or buick 3.8L?

Because on here, that sentence is contradictory.

its a common MG swap, the 3.4 is the second most common, second to the 302 swap. its just not a good idea to stuff 5405967 HP into a lightweight shell, or you might as well build it out of wood and make the hood your headstone because when you hit a wall its lights out.

but the most power ive seen an MG push out, was a 383 Stroker with a supercharger and blower.... not sure of the numbers, but its up there. The 1JZ is more logical than something bigger like that. But judging on the bay size is how the motor should be looked at. dont pick a motor, and then try and stuff it in there, it will take more fab work than you want IMO.

The Buick 231 is crap. The Series II 3800 is alright.

The Pontiac 3.1 and 3.4 are shit. Utter shit.

There is a guy who bought a crate 3.4, and he ran it for 150 miles and it started running like crap, so he took it in, and the #5 cam lobe was missing. he got a new one. same problem, only at 1k, and then he got another replacement and is searching for an aftermarket cam for it lol

The thing with the L6 in a 3rd gen celica is that they share alot in common with the mk2 supra which was a factory L6. Since the 1J swap is well documented on the supra its a far easier swap to sort out than a v6 which has NEVER been in that chassis.

2rz. That's what I was going to stuff into my '85 GT before I realized just how bad the rusties were. Make sure you get and rebuild a mki Supra rear end, no matter what you throw in there.

1j would fit, but it'd be a bitch... check out www.celica-gts.com/forums, it's populated by a bunch of really knowledgeable guys.

point well taken! lol I wasnt sure about the compatibility of the project vehicle as opposed to the donor.

1jz will fit, been done
2jz will fit, been done
7mgte will fit, been done, look up tomyc48 on celica_gts.com

22rte has been done, it is what im doing but i got a whole 86.5 4runner with a 30k 22rte for 400 dollars. basicly to put one into a 3rd gen you use the celica oil pan and pickup tube, use the celica flywheel (trucks are 5lbs heavier im told) and custom fab a downpipe that dont hit the p/s rack. (im going to do that and put a lower mount on the passenger side to give a lil extra clearance if its still too close.) oh and you may want to relocate the battery to the passenger side like on the carbbed celicas or the rear of the celica. oh and use the 22re ecu on the 22rte or you wont have a diagnostic port and no jumper harness. oh and on the 22rte you use the celica mounting brackets on the "other" set of holes. You dont need the U pipe for the cooling, its for the truck rad.

2rz will fit, best 4 cylinder option both n/a or boost wise, teran on celica_gts.com has done it

3rz is rumored too tall

1uzfe (lexus 4.0 v8) has been done

for alot of 22rte info go to 22rte-trucks.com also google jeff mosk for his site

be sure to keep extra diffs on hand, im going to have a hell of a time finding spare 3.90's

if u go 4cylinder or v8 the 89-94 240sx sr20de aluminum radiator fits with minor mods and its cheap. there are no 2 or 3 row radiators currently made for a 3rd gen.

go for it man! The 1jz is a beautiful engine and has great power and revs. The hardest part would be bolting it in, as the wiring is easy if you can read. One of those is going in my 77
