View Full Version : How to build a system?

I'm curious to see how others build a system.

Do you build it around a sub, a box, an amp, headunit, or around the car?

Reason I'm asking is I was wandering around the swap meet today and saw a good deal on some Pioneer TS-W3002D4 subs (http://www.crutchfield.com/s_130W3002D4/Pioneer-TS-W3002D4.html?tp=111) ($240/pair).

I usually build around the car (take into account charging system/etc). I think that to run two of these subs is going to consume a LARGE amount of power that both the Hyundai and Celica won't be able to support.

Build it around what you want it to do. Let the goal dictate the components.

Also keep in mind that they can be tailored to each other too. If you want a mobile stadium system, you can always upgrade your charging system.

I'd go with a head unit last, once you figure out what you want out of the components. Find the speakers you want first (both interior and subs), and then amps to support them and a box that's made for the sub(s), and last, a head unit and other upgrades that can run it all.

Don't cheap out on wire though...it's one of the worst things people do.

you could always have the amp and sub run off a stand alone battery

Im actually opposite. I pick my head unit first. Then amp/amps then I pick speakers/subs around the amps power and vehicles soundstage.
