Another beautiful install...Nice work sir :)...What do you charge for somethin like this? A price breakdown would be sweet..like everything from like cost of gettin the engine, tune up , extra parts, and so on, to see how far away I am from a dream of a 3s

It gets pretty expensive doing it the right way. The whole job with the engine and all parts, full mandrel bent exhaust, high-density intercooler, engine tuneup with all new parts, new clutch kit, etc etc etc runs $10k to $12k, and that's with a pretty decent discount on the labor. If we actually charged for every hour we worked on it it would be a few thousand more.

looks great man!

What other swaps have you done and what is the most popular these days? All we ever get to see is the 3sgte swaps. I wouldn't mind seeing some of your other stuff too.

On the ST you lose the cooling lines for the power steering, so we went ahead and installed a dedicated cooler for it.

Dr Tweak

That's where the hot-side intercooler pipe will go through, the next batch of pics will explain it better.

Yes, I prefer keeping the original battery location. A/C and Cruise are also retained.

No clocked turbo?

I vaguely remember something about the 215 turbo being one piece or something..

bloodMoney
10-14-2010, 06:20 PM
The 215 is one piece with the manifold.

I was also wondering why you chose to keep stock compressor outlet location Doc.....

Dr Tweak
10-14-2010, 07:59 PM
Back in the day we used to clock the turbos, but we stopped doing it for a number of reasons.

For one, getting a bracket made that will hold the wastegate actuator in the right place reliably takes an entire day of work (it's a lot of trial and error and most of you know how hard it is to take the turbo off a 3S).

You really don't gain much in terms of reducing the bends, especially the way that we route the piping now.

Fitting the intercooler piping between the downpipe and radiator fan is difficult or impossible if you have the factory downpipe (which we do).

Since the piping that goes past the manifold is on the hot side anyway, the intercooler does a great job of chilling the air and so temperature really isn't a concern.

Some of these things are contrary to what you may have heard from me in years past, but time and experience have mended my ways :) The 90-degree coupling coming off the compressor outlet is simple, reliable, quick, and it works perfectly every time.
