View Full Version : Done all My Homework and Still no Spark

Just did the GEN3 swap from a fully operational 91T GEN2 everything looks good, ready to start, but no spark.

Here is what I have....

I have a 1996 GEN3 3S GTE motor which came with a GEN3 engine harness and GEN3 ECU.

I plugged in the ECU with the first two plugs 26P & 16P with no changes to those plugs because these are GEN3 plugs from the GEN3 engine harness.

The third plug is from my GEN2 body harness. It is the final plug in the ECU labeled 22p.

I followed this thread:

MR2 Owners Club Message Board (http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=157628)

I moved all the wires associated with the third plug (22P).

I also followed this thread to take care of the EA-1 plug (the big white plug in the trunk)

MR2 Owners Club Message Board (http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=397751)

And this thread:

MR2 Owners Club Message Board (http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=243377&highlight=white+plug+ecu)

Everything is plugged up or moved according to these two threads, but I have no spark. I check the resistance on the coil, and all looks good. I checked the plug that goes into the coil with a two wire connection, this should have 12vdc at the plug, but I am only getting a .7vdc charge there while the key is on.

I have checked and replaced all the grounds to be sure I am grounded properly, but i got nothing.

I have fuel and air, just no spark.

Any help would be great. I know I could go out an buy a GEN3 body harness, but with all these write ups on how to make the GEN2 harness work, I didn't think it would be necessary.

Any suggestions for possible issues keeping this from running?
