Hello, i have a 1986 Celica and i beleive the motor has been changed and need to know which motor is in it
as i need an Engine Cv Joint shaft for it!
the compliance plate says its a ST-162R 3SGELO engine but im sure its been changed The Engine Number is 3S 0848832.
can anyone help me find out wether this is a 3SGE or a 3SFE also would the gearbox have been changed also? or does this motor just bolt in.

IM in Australia
Thankyou
Rob

The trans would work for either a 3sge or 3sfe.

Easy way to tell... are there two valve covers or one?

This is the 3sge (two valve covers with a black metal piece between them for the spark plug tubes).

The 3sfe only has a 1 piece valve cover.

There was no need to post the exact same question in different forums. I've merged the threads together.
