nope, its just not really an option for an American celica.... atleast a celica.

No, nothing wrong with the 3sfe. Just wondering why you opted for a 3sfe as opposed to dropping in a 5sfe from the 5th gen celica (I think the gen5 vert came with the 5sfe stock right?).

But...why? I've considered many swaps for my celica, but never a 3sFe.

ummmmm just a cheap engine. my corolla trans is going out and i need a daily quick. in the future there will be a beams swap but as of today i need a car and the 3sfe is affordable at the moment.

but the 5sfe is probably even cheaper, dude... they put them in everything...

rav4, camry, celica.... i'm sure you can find it cheap.

i thought the 3sfe was the 2.0L engine from the like 87-91 camry?

im getting the jdm 3sfe havent found a 5sfe for the same price yet unless im looking in the wrong places. if you know where I can get a 5sfe for less than $400 please le a brother know. would rather have a 5s but only have the cash for a 3s due to my dying corolla.

Have you checked your local junk yards? The pick in pulls here sell motors for 150 or 200 if I recall correctly.

ok my kyb struts and eibach springs came in today. so hopefully i can have them installed by the end of the weekend. also i see everyone saying not to go with the 3sfe engine. i have a quick question should i just get the 5sfe engine fixed. the problem was the block was leaking antiferze from the timing belt side i took the car to a shade tree mechanic thinking it was the water pump. so after the so call mechanic installed the water pump it was still leaking coolant. so he said it must be a freeze plug. do you think he installed the pump corectly are could it be a freeze plug.

dude I got a q? why is your front bumper like that? I've got a 92 convertible also and my front bumper looks way diff than yours.

Front bumber has a grille w fog lights to the end of them in a recessed area.

Just curious to know if that's the stock look, or was something done to it, or is mine "stock"

Even my mirrors are different than yours.

i really dont know anything about the front bumpers. it could be a different trim or year. my celica is a 1991 gt. im sure when they came out you could fogs as a option. my side view mirrors are jdm. check out ebay and you should find some.

Well this weekend was dedicated to getting the celica prep for the engine install. I had to install the suspension on the fronts to move the car so we can have more room to work with. Also started to clean the 5sfe up a little bit too. I also installed my trunk just to see how the car looks with the two tone. Man I have to say that roller paint idea has the celica looking good. When Im done I will take a close pic of the completed paint job.

they sale widebody fenders for the celica pls send that link i need them now lol. i was bored and had some left over paint and the ladys love baby blue valve covers. i didnt order the engine yet. actually i installed a new water pump and set the timing on the 5sfe. if that doesnt work i may send it to a reputable mechanic this time. if it wasnt so damn hot down here the engine would be in now.

There could be a few things that would cause an antifreeze leak. HG, water pump, crack in block, gasket. My motor leaks antifreeze when its full (from the back of the motor, passenger side). But if I let it leak out it stops after about 12 oz's and doesn't leak again. I learned to quit topping it off lol.

On the 3sfe questions from earlier, I am not sure the 5s is better. The old 4th gen I had (3sfe) felt like it had more power and did a shit load better on gas. My current experience with the 5s is it is sluggish and sucks on gas. The 3s I had averaged between 36 and 40 MPG. Both had cone filter and gutted cat.

Good work so far.
