So some people told me to post a thread about my car so here it is. I took a lot of pics and what not but I don't think I'll post all of them, don't want to overwhelm anyone or anything. My car is in pretty good shape it definitely needs a tune up, shocks, new windshield, and i believe that's the most important things that I can think of right now.

Again I do have more pics then this. The album says there are 70 in total that I took of my car but I don't want to overwhelm anyone. Also if this is in the wrong spot or anything sorry in advance. I would like any suggestions or advice about my car from anyone who would like to give me any. Thanks again!

Nice looking car for a '71 . . .still amazes me how big they used to build cars back in the day.

Great car - hope you have allot of money for the gas!

It's a vacuum reservoir. Lots of people back then (and still today) use old tin cans when the factory one breaks. Affordable fix back in the day.

Well - for the year and trim level I'd guess its a 289 CI "small block". Ford made a ton of those, as they were the "base" V-8 for allot of cars - including the Mustang.

The 390 CI was Ford "big block" back in those days but probably would be found in the more "deluxe" Galaxy 500.

The windshield you can get replaced with "taped glass" right in your own driveway for maybe $150-$200.

Working on those cars is great - just two radiator hoses and two heater hoses - maybe a vacuum hose to the dizzy.

From the decal on the air cleaner, it looks like it's a 400 with a 2 barrell carb. The 2 barrell carb checks out.

Yup, it is a 400ci. You can tell it isn't a SBF from the shape of teh valve pans.

I never really cared for the 351Modified/400ci. Though they are a Cleveland engine. Which isn't a bad engine. It is only a 2v model, with the poor heads, compared to the 4v heads, which rocked.

i told u it was a 400 with low-flo heads when i was looking up parts for you, then remember i explained to u how your 2 barrel carb works in detail while u were at my house.

oh well just get out here with your pimpmobile and maybe we can find you some 4v heads and a nice holley or edelbrock carb and a single plane intake manifold.

ill expain all this later.

btw u never did take a pic of your "parts car" engine so i can see what engine that one is

I don't really know much details about Ford engines - the 400 was based on the 351? None were like the old 390 from the sixties?

Of course Ford also had the 302 (Boss), 428 Cobra Jet, and also a big 429 for the LTD and such - finally the super rare Boss 429.

Ford and Chevy both had 400 CI small blocks. They are pretty much the upper limit of the factory small block. Completely unrelated to the big block 390. For Ford, the big block range ended up topping out with the 460.

lol yeah it sucked, I went out one night to switch cars around and thought it was water at first. I was so pissed when I realized it was a crack. I guess it had gotten too hot and I never cracked my windows so the pressure was to much and cracked the windshield.

No I haven't decided on a name. But I have referred to my car as a tank before lol. maybe that would be the best choice.
