someone ditches a car because of a shifter cable? I call BS

Shifter cable wouldnt make it not run, would it? As in, you SHOULD be able to start it.

Plus, EIGHT. HUNDRED. DOLLARS? Fuck your cars are cheap down there.

Up here, anything with a safety good for a year is pretty well worth 1000$...

Its Indiana.

You would be surprised.

I bought a car once that I regret selling (I wanted better fuel econ and a stick shift). It needed a fuel pump relay and that's why it was parked for two years.

I plan on going to look at this car sometime soon.

I'd like to see what his lowest dollar would be.

EDIT:

i forgot to mention that I emailed the guy and he said the shifter cable broke but he didn't feel like fixing it and had another car to drive so he didn't really care. I can understand that.

He sent more pics. Looks decent for the price.

Hell, if the trans is shot but the engine runs. Psh...okay, get a new one and drop it in.

the best option for you to decide whether to get it or not, is to see it in person.. :D

start it up and think if it's well worth all the $$$ and trouble.. :D

Mike, because I emailed the guy asking for more information and pictures should not deter you from checking out a potential car to purchase.

I don't have plans to purchase this thing. I was looking for something that might benefit you.

Yea - that's always the problem with cars from the midwest for whatever reason.

I spent some time in central Illinois and was amazed at all the great mechanicals in the junk yards, because the cars only lasted five or six years before they rusted out.

Don't really know why that is - cuz cars up in the northeast where they have as much snow and salt always seem to have much less rust.

If someone has money to burn, buy a shell from the Southwest and mechanical from the North.

And Mike, post the pics you received. The ones I got didn't have anything of the rust

The body has cancer.

The underside suspension stuff doesn't look bad.

I would have to see it before making an offer.

MR2's usually go for big bucks around here, even more if they are clean. I'm surprised no one's picked this up yet.

The side skirts are really rusted, even falling off on the one side

I would still say that MR2 is in much better shape than your Celica.

Body wise, no. Running wise, only because the engine is in and running in that car, but only atm.
