View Full Version : Need a hand identifying some connections/hoses

I've linked the hi-res pictures to the image. Clicky for big fawking picture :)

Here we go!

1. This picture here, there's two things I'm lost on. The two hoses there (obviously) are the heater core inlet/outlet. I'm guessing the one with the valve is the inlet, and the straight hose is the outlet. My question though, which one goes where? I'm not sure which pipe connects to which hose from the engine.

Second thing on this picture, that black pipe with the sliver end on it...where the hell does this connect to? I didn't disconnect this when I removed the old 3sge. Following the pipe over, it seems to go over to the (name slips me) large round black thing by the drivers side firewall where the clutch/brake cylinders sit.

2. Now I think this picture relates to my 2nd question above. There looks to be a fitting that belongs here, however again was not on either the engine or old power steering pump I removed off the old 3sge. I have a feeling that this runs up to the line on the firewall I have above.

3. These last pictures are all the same. Once again, I have another hose that was not connected when I removed the engine, and have no clue where it goes by trying to follow diagrams. It's the black hose in front of the heater core lines, going back to what looks like the rack.

Advise? Halp? or is someone going to come and jack my shit cuz I don't belong in the engine bay at all.

the coolant hose with the valve on it connects to the water inlet on the head(you know, the one with all of the sensors in it).

the second coolant hose connects to the hard line that runs to the water pump.

the last picture is the fuel hose that goes to the fuel rail. the fuel rail has 2 lines. one has a banjo fitting that connects to the fuel filter and the other is the one in the picture.

Awesome.. The damn diagrams I have for the 215 really aren't too clear as to which is which :(

So it's safe to assume then that I'm missing some connection from the power steering pump to that line on the firewall then.

what line on the firewall are you talking about.

1. From the point of view of the picture, the one on the left goes to the closest port on the engine, the one on the right goes on the farthest. They don't criss cross over or anything. Big black line to the "large round black thing" is your brake booster. The line goes to the largest nipple on the end of the intake manifold.

2. No, it doesn't go to that hose up above. I can't recall what exactly goes there. Where is the piece that has the two vac nipples? It might be for that.

3. Fuel return line. Connects to your fuel pressure regulator.

Hey also, for the next time, it's easiest to just unbolt the PS pump without disconnecting the lines when pulling the motor. That way you don't need to fuss with the fluid and shizz.

You guys are great. Looks like I gotta hit up CSK and get some new lines then (no way the hoses will reach.. heh).

I'm pretty sure there's another one or two vacuum lines I gotta find their sources...

Really? Does the 215 have them in different spots? I just hooked up Ryan's the other day and was in the same spot. I even trimmed one b/c it had ballooned a bit.

Just off memory, but I'm fairly certain the fuel line ain't gonna reach.. I swore to myself I won't work on the car when tired (going on 25 hours awake.... gotta wait till wife gets home before I can crash out).
