whos interested?? i really want to drive this road, even if it is partially closed, and work fucked me again this year(requested the days off and denied, schedule get posted and im off any ways!=fail)

Anyways, Talked to austinc tonight after he got off work (had to see the scars from the ass fucking) and he said everyone was awesome and he really enjoyed it, so im wondering if we can possibly put togather a fall meet?

was advised to check the motorscooter forums to see when the harley meet there is going to be.

AND GO! thoughts, suggestions....thinking maybe late sept or october depending on weather ....

If its not running, i may be able to get my mother-in-laws new beetle since i cant figure out my trucks brake light problem.

Whenever ya'll want to go let me in on it. As a matter of fact we should organize a sunday drive up to the ga mtn roads. We could do it about 8-10 hours.

Or we could go up for a drive and get a campsite near where that hiking store was we stopped at on the GA dragon train this year.

but I have to see where the funding lies

what funding? besides gas, i only spent $100 the whole weekend. so it not that expensive, just the time and gas... i think 5 tanks of premium is all i used. 34mpg home, 30mpg on the dragon and skyway (:

Gas: $200.00
Food etc: $100.00
Bumper cover: $500.00
Running into the second coolest car at the meet: Priceless

I would be willing to help with the planning of this meet.

I really think it should be on other roads and maybe not do the dragon at all it's way overrated and too many coppers.

What about organizing a meet in the north GA mtns maybe drive into NC a little. Just a thought. We have lots and lots of good roads up here.

This could even be a meet someplace in the middle, like the Ozarks in Arkansas.

Or AZ!

We have a wicked fun run, it's only about an hour or so drive, but there's hills & turns a plenty. Nothing compared to the dragon though.

While a meet in the ozarks or out west would be great, I think it would be better to keep it in the southern states. It seems that most of us live in the southeast and I doubt many people will want to drive 1000 miles for a weekend and do it again in the spring.

I'm going to look at some maps and check on some hotels and see what the deal is.

Another problem with the fall at the dragon will be snow, There may or may not be snow on the skyway anytime after the middle of october.

Would anyone be down to get a campsite or a cabin at a state park somewhere in GA and go from there?

We wouldn't be able to get quite as rowdy as we do in knoxville but it could be fun and october-november in the NGA mtns is perfect camping weather.

Grot
05-18-2010, 12:47 AM
I'd be down. Campin is cheaper than hotel. The hotel cost would prob count me out of most othe places.

The road we took from the captains house to TN was fun. If there are more roads out there like that then that would probably be awesome...

You probably mean 180. Yes that road rules. It is probably the best but there are others.

Richard B Russell is the road that goes up and down brasstown bald (tallest mtn in GA) and it is pretty awesome but you better make sure you don't have brake fade issues.

We drove on GA 60 and 19 on the GA dragon train those are both great and there is more of both that is just as good.

If we stay at vogel state park which has cabins and campsites this would be a great sunday run. It could include the dragon if we wanted it to.

Vogel SP to robbinsville via 28 and fontana dam. I haven't done 28 but it is supposed to be tits.
Skyway to Telico plains
68 from telico back to the park via 180 (optional if we are tired)

any trip down south in the hills would be fun, all ohio has is the ability to see 10 miles of flat land in any given direction

Dude! Take a day trip to anywhere around Athens. I've spent some quality time on the roads in Southeastern Ohio, they're a blast!

I also have always enjoyed driving in the now national park between Akron and Cleveland. Some quality driving back there, just ask the local police...

You may be near some state borders, but Christ man, this isn't Indiana.

I will be down there September 11 for the Oregon vs. UT football game in Knoxville. I'll probably take a run down to Deals Gap for a beer and a sticker and then head home Sunday morning. I know that I will have a few friends with me.

I'm not sure I'll be in the Celica though. Unless I get new front seats and some issues fixed. So, probably my SAAB or my dad's Murano if he'll let me take it, which would be nice since it has a warranty and some roadside assistance BS.

This year's Dragon was mighty hard on the old girl.

I'll be there, so long as alltracNyx finishes my t-shirt. sadface.

I'll have to pick up some new tires before heading down since my current ones are shot.

Hah! It's like two thirds done. Celes is just missing her front end in my Illustrator drawing. But then there's still the parachute idea. I haven't decided how I'm going to incorporate that in just yet ;)

New tires would be a necessity; I don't know how things would have gone for us if we didn't pick up those new tires the day before we left to the dragon...
