Ok.. I know the threads here somewhere but Donde?!

I know we all despise the stock 4th gen's cupholders. I saw a picture somewhere from someone who put a pair of 5th gen cupholders in the 4th gen bezel. Anyone remeber who/where that picture is?

I can't recall if it was put in place of the ash tray, or replaced the space below a single din radio.

Well, the 5th gen cup holders a half din size, so something else would have to be put in with them to fill the space... or you could just have a hole there.

As crappy it is, the 4th gen cup holders are infinitely better than the 6th gen ones. They are placed such that it makes shifting without smacking your cup an impossibility.

5th gen ones are ok though, just wondering if there's enough space between the din spot and the shifter to not be a problem. Should be pretty easy to install there tho if that's where you wanted to go.

Maybe its my shifter or knob but I find the 5th gen's also have the problem with shifting directly into your cup in 1-3-5. The worst part is it spills the drink right into the CD deck.

I'm pretty sure my 4th gen's cup holder is in the same spot.

I've always put my coffee mug between the seat and the door :P

I'm just wondering though if the TWM shifter though gets around the hitting the cup for 1-3-5....

Gar oh well :P

A small Tim Horton's coffee fits perfectly in the left cup holder of my 5th gen and shifting to 1, 3 and 5 doesn't bump it at all (stock shifter knob). I am still trying to figure out a way to have a drink (coffee or anything) in the MR2 without having to hold it. The 'seat and door trick' might work for larger coffee's, but definitely doesn't work with a small Timmy's (tried and failed...hehe)

Yep, that's what I'm looking for.

Now, the TWM shifter does drop a few inches off of the shift height, so I'm wondering if it will clear that now..

mmmm... wonder if it can be modded for a 5g?

I just put my cup in the center armrest compartment or wedged between the seat and door

its funny how many people use the seat and door thing. i thought i was the only one who had to use it.

I dunno....with my alltrac, I have the twm short throw and if I have anything in the cup holder I cant shift with my hand around the knob...I have to open palm push it instead of grabbing the knob. I've thought about putting some type of cup holder on the door panel so it sits just below the window switches...but I've never taken the time to see if anything will realistically fit there....

I think the 4th gen cupholder is still a good option...however, one change I'd like to add is some sort of "lock" on the armrest, so that when you hit the brakes it doesn't fall down and smack your cup, likely spilling it. However, the 4th gen cupholders are very easy to break and are very fragile...good luck finding one in the junkyard not broken.
