So my hoist doesn't sit level :(

I fought with it removing the engine, and just hanging the engine on the stand it doesn't sit level. In order to have all the wheels on the ground, I need to stand on the one rear corner and it'll balance out.

I'm thinking one of those engine levelers will work to balance the weight out and level the hoist... will it?

It's either this, or buy a new hoist. I got this hoist from a friend gratis (along with the stand).

Yeah, engine leveler. They should have ones that you can crank by hand and raise/lower each side. They work well.

You just using basic chains?

Yeah. Just a chain secured with an extension through the beam holes.

Yeah something like this is helpful:

When I rented the hoist to pull the 185 engine, came with a couple of these. Very handy.

I bought that same damn one :) It's in use right now holding the engine to match the angle of the tranny jack to bolt em together :)
