93 Celica convertiable, currently 129k miles

I purchuased this with out the intention of buying a car when i went to look at it. I found it on autotrader.com, called about the mileage only because i thought it was a typo( ad said 75k) the lady explained abou the car and that it had been stored every winter since she got it, my step father and I went up to look at the car at the university of Michigan. I fell in love with the styling as soon as i saw it in the parking lot, test drove it, gave her a 100 dollar deposit, took the forsale sign home(i still have it) Went back up to UofM 3 days later paid the rest of the price and drove it home... wow this was 5 years ago now

well theres the back story

since ive owned it, ive done a things to spice it up not much but enough, and now i think it time to do a bigger change= engine swap

thanks John, i probably forgot a lot of stuff but ohwell.
I figuredv its about time i write all this stuff somewhere so i dont forget
and more info or advice you all have is awesome

its a work in progress as is all of our cars..

how do i fix my sig so it has the project button?-thanks 4thgen celi for helping me fix it

04-23-2010, 08:02 AM
I will definitely be watching as this progresses. Looks good so far. IMO the convertibles are totally different cars.

04-23-2010, 09:55 AM
Great job so far man! It has come a long way since you first joined up. Be proud. :)

04-23-2010, 03:30 PM
nice project keep up the work

word of warning, flat black paint obsorbs moisture, and can lock it in thus rusting the metal under it and pending on the conditions of weather it can do it quickly

04-23-2010, 11:53 PM
thanks mario.

it does really? i didnt know that, i plan on pulling it off again and redoing it this summer(some chips and such) im gonna go with satin black this time and a satin clear coat. the hood it self is actually white_.- good advice though 85gtsman

Well i couldnt wait for the hid's to get here( it might be a few weeks i guess according to ddmtuning) so i installed the e-code autopal's this afternoon with the bulbs they came with, I have alot of adjusting to do later tonight when its dark. I took pics of the install also, pretty straight forward but it seem theres alot of members that havent done this yet so ill post em anyways. just have to get them uploaded from the camera.

Ill take some night shots tonight also

04-24-2010, 12:02 AM
Great advice from Joe on the paint and also, please do post your photos in my write-up and I can make it all fit. :) (giving you credit as well, of course)

04-24-2010, 12:21 AM
ok is the write up still locked? luni was talknig about a parabolic reflector in another post but my housings didnt have one just a hole for the bulbs. will update once i get the pics uploaded

04-24-2010, 12:22 AM
Should be unlocked?

04-24-2010, 01:03 AM
Thanks. Yeah last I checked your hid write up was locked. Can't wait for tonight to try the lights and see the difference

04-24-2010, 01:07 AM
IMO the convertibles are totally different cars.

They have a lot of bonuses, that's for sure. Factory side skirts, beefed up body, braced doors, etc. All the best parts I ever pulled came from wrecked 'verts.

Nice work! These cars give back the treatment they get!

04-25-2010, 02:35 AM

true very true

i did find that one of my fogs are broken(mounting tab, must have broke when i hit the raccoon back in sept) but luckly i got a spare(just one though...and it happens to be the pass side). The new ecode's even the bulbs they came with are worlds better than the stock sealed beam crap.

shadow i will get the pics up by end of weekend

04-26-2010, 03:31 AM
well some dumb lady decided not to stop at a stop sign in my work parknig lot while i was turning right to go towards the exit of our lot, and turn in front of me so i cut the corner as hard as i could and ended up curbing my back passenger side wheel pretty bad. im only pissed because they are super rare and not made anymore. anyone know of a shop that can refinish jdm wheels? or should i just ge the tires dismounted this winter and take em too powder coater? thoughts?? id lik them to be refinished anyways...

grrrr!!! pics of light install tommorow sorry i was a litte peaved today after work..( even though it was my own doing to save my front end of my car)

04-26-2010, 04:12 AM
Dude, im glad the car is ok. sorry about the wheel, but it was a necessary causilty. im sure someone knows a refinisher

04-26-2010, 08:11 AM
Sweet. Can't wait to see the swap happen.

Autopal H4 conversion install

unboxed side by side Autopal on right

bezel removed and tools needed # 2 screwdriver,(i used my electric one for most of it)

sealed beam with bezel removed

Screws that need to removed for the housing and holder to come out (2 top, 2bottom) 4total for both sides

close up of lens to confirm e-code markings

H4 bulb installed in housing(held in by clip as seen in pic)

Dust cover??

ecode installed! with bezel

sealed beam daytime(i think)lol

Autopal e-code daytime(i think)lol

I dont have any nighttime shots like this of the sealed beams but heres the e-code cut offs against the garage

from sitting in drivers seat

outside standing up

over all im super impressed by these housing and the bulbs they came with.
got an email today HID's have been shipped
pics when they arrive

04-27-2010, 07:27 PM
i envy your front bumper haha nice work

04-27-2010, 09:35 PM
lol.. i really want the RC front end...so my front bumper and fogs might be forsale this fall, but who knows

04-28-2010, 06:27 AM
i rollled to 130,000 tonight when i hit the garage lol so it will sit with 130k till morning.....going to dealer tommorow to get full price for RC front bumper

05-04-2010, 04:10 AM
update!- DDmtuning 5000k HID H4 lo-beam only kit arrived the other day and my best friend and I did the install last night...took almost 5 hours most time figuring out where to mount the ballast and how to run the wiring..

now have to figure out how to do the fog light rewire so i can use em again(even though there not needed)
does anyone have the second pic for the write up on this site? it doesnt show up. will get pics of the HID's against the garage shortly.

and a pic of the installed product(the two sided tape that came with the kit didnt do so well on the driver's side so i gotta get some 3m heavy duty and try agian) not sure about the passenger side as it hard to get too.

05-04-2010, 04:56 AM
Nice work! I have been looking for a good solution for HIDs. I like what you have done.

05-04-2010, 05:07 AM
you cant beat the autopal e-code/dddmtuning combo for the price , with shipping for the housings and HID included im under $100. and life time warranty for the HIDS

05-04-2010, 05:20 AM
ive always been curious about your car since I never really saw it, and I gotta say I like it! And the triforce reference is funny haha maybe I'll have to join you at one of those meets some time, I just gotta shapen up one of my yoters lol we seem to be growing a good number of Ohio residents

05-04-2010, 05:22 AM
I wish i had members close to me to meet up with and shoot the shit.

05-04-2010, 05:28 AM
grrrr! i hate not having my fogs.....
ill screw with it wednesday thursday and friday im off those days, hope the rewire trick works for the verts

05-04-2010, 05:31 AM
I went without fogs for like 2 weeks and I legitimately needed to use them during that time span. Was, so, angry.

05-04-2010, 05:32 AM
It should.
Also, I replied to your PM.

05-04-2010, 05:33 AM
too far for me man haha i have no celica fans or toyota fans really around me the shits depressing. You know if you cant get them working my car would love to have them haha

05-04-2010, 05:36 AM
got in mario replied back
do you have the pic thats missing from the write up in the electrical section?its the middle picture that shows which wire is the hot wire

tecker- i believe theres a couple tracs in nyc but idk anymore

christine- ive gone whole day (even with the HID's) i miss em, gonna do hid FOGS next

05-04-2010, 05:36 AM
The only Celica owners near me have 7th gens. Seeing as rainbow isnt my favorite color, I dont really fit in.

05-04-2010, 05:43 AM
haha I think toledo is like a 3hour drive from here, I'll have to consider a meet soon. I would just like to have one of my 3 toyotas to be a little closer to finished, but oh well.

05-05-2010, 05:40 AM
during install- one autopal standard H4 bulb/ one DDMtuning 5000K hid

out in the country driving(yes i took the pic with my phone at 65mph out the window)

In drive same spot as i took the last pics at(looking out windshield)

behind car

I will get pics of where i mounted stuff tomorrow during the day

05-05-2010, 08:34 AM
Nice work man. :)

As to the photo you requested, I did it with only the two there, so I don't know.
I think it got lost when we switched servers. :(

05-05-2010, 09:01 AM
thanks for looking im preety sure once i pull the relay i can figure it out with the pics there, will attempt tommorow and post back ill even take a pic of the one thats missing. so we can add it.

05-06-2010, 05:40 AM
dont the pop up headlights make the HID conversion a little tricky? lol I need to see if I can find batter locations for my ballasts

05-06-2010, 09:07 AM
yes yes the pop-ups make it tricky, im gonna take pics of where i mounted my ballast during the day tommorow(later today) one is on the rebar and the other is next to the battery, i may move this one though the double sided tape doest seem to want to stay. My goal was to install as professsionally and possible.

List of stuff i need to do tomorrow:
-dissassemble front brakes and figure out why theres a grove in the middle of my front left rotor(brand new)
-Fog light rewire
-depending on weather debadge trunk and wash and wax
- possibly paint calipers and hubs(if im not lazy and its warm out)
-clean interior
-take pics of HID install

05-07-2010, 06:07 AM
things that got done today:

debadged trunk(still working on getting adhesive off)
Fog light rewire for the convertiable
and pics of hid ballast

passenger side ballast( on rebar)

drivers side (behind battery on fenderwell)

Fog light rewire mod for convertiables
hot wire is white wire with green tracer
(you cant see the tracer but its the white wire at bottom of plug)

05-13-2010, 05:37 AM
update- only things done recently is i debadged the trunk.

on another note, plans for this car are on hold due to another car that has sparked my interest greatly(dont wory im not leaving toyota).

05-19-2010, 06:44 AM
well Im continuing on with my vert guy selling alltrac was a douche.

going to drag stip tommorow to prove how slow my shit is.....

06-14-2010, 07:12 AM
well I havent done much with the car recentally , but i did paint the brake calipers and hubs. fronts only i ran out of patience/ spray paint for the back so that will be done soon. will get pics posted within the week of the calipers, as SOON as i get em uploaded.

wolud a blown strut cause a mysterious thomping noise when going over bumps? i hope so cuz it gives my wife a valid reason to let me get new suspension, if not ill have to go trouble shoot and figure out what it is.... its in the rear from what i can tell

06-14-2010, 11:48 AM
Very nice, I hope the next Speed-Source meet I will see you boosted! I'll be watching your build thread, the car is coming together. :)

06-14-2010, 07:57 PM
I once had a monroe tube come apart and make some serious thumping over bumps slow speed. From my understanding though, it is the control arms on the rear suspension that make that characteristic Celica clunk. You could upgrade to 6th gen arms, and lose the clunk for good.

06-14-2010, 09:15 PM
Intriging.....can you explain more? Like the bushings gone bad? Hoping it will stop raining so I can look at it. It sounds and feels like something is smacking the bottom of the car almost like bottoming out but its not.

06-14-2010, 11:42 PM
The bearings suck in the rear control arms. Someone has a writeup on converting to 6th gen arms since they're more abundant. Hard to search via the 2 inch phone screen...

06-24-2010, 05:59 AM
:thumbsdown:i went searching for my suspension clunking culprit after, everything is tight an i cant get it to make the sound even if i jump up and down on the rear bumper or jounce the front end, but i did find this....

the dust cover for my passenger side axel seal is free spinning around my axel...... and there is geal lube all over the place. so i gots to find a new axel seal for the pass side tommorow morning and order some gear lube( unles i can get some local but i doubt it), be cause i want to try out the redline mt-90, ive had just about everyother gear oil in it and want to try somthing new. so ill pull it apart tommorow and de grease everything, and hope i can get a new seal. sux but hey it happpens.

this is why i dont like climbing under my own car i always find broken shit.....lol
on a good not i did find where my e-brake cable broke while i was under there and well at least it broke under the car and not at the handle like i though.

07-01-2010, 05:22 AM
wait why did you have to rewire your fog lights and all that good stuff?
did they not work after you installed your HID headlights?

07-01-2010, 10:31 PM
correct. The fog light wlon't work after the HID upgrade, un sure of why but yes if you want the fogs to work the rewire must be done. Its very simple and should take maybe 10 mins if you follow the pics. After the rewire the fogs can be turned on and off independant of the head lights. Also if you leave the switch pushed in or on when you start the car they will turn on and when you turn the car off the fog lights will too.

08-04-2010, 12:02 AM
In the very first pic you posted on the first page of this thread it looks to me that there is some kind of cover that goes over of your top while it's down. WTF is that? I don't have that on mine. Maybe I'm just seeing things, I am browsing from my phone so idk..

08-04-2010, 12:38 AM
You aren't seeing things. That is the convertiable top boot(cover) its nice to have when the top is gonna be down for extended periods as it covers the top and protects it from the sun. I don't know many vert owners that have one. I know a lot of people are looking for em. I have yet to figure out how to store it correctly as it is a large item. If you would like ill pull it out of the corner of the garage ans snap a better picture of it or multiple pics. Let me know ill gladly do it

08-04-2010, 01:46 AM
I have to get my hands on one of those! The bottom of my top is all faded and everything and when it's down you can see the metal parts of the hydraulics and the paint is chipping off on it and everything. It's so ugly. Yea if you don't mind I'd love to see a better pic of it. Thanks!

08-04-2010, 02:10 AM
Will do. Ill get some pics up by tommorow night

08-11-2010, 07:24 PM
yeah i have the top cover it came with my 1988. i don't have any pics of it my camera is MIA. but i love that little cover.

08-11-2010, 07:41 PM
i want one!

08-12-2010, 04:32 AM
yours look taller then mine.

08-12-2010, 05:23 AM

iff it has any screw spots juts use that. if not painted plumbers tape works. plumbers tape link (http://www.google.com/products/catalog?client=hp&expIds=17259,25217,25788,25796,26035&sugexp=ldymls&xhr=t&q=plumbers+tape&cp=10&hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=17910621337607945408&ei=hoZjTIykFYWglAfN0fTuDA&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=4&sqi=2&ved=0CDAQ8wIwAw#) or some metal z bracketsz brackets link (http://www.shortrunpro.com/aluminum_ball_valve_bracket_51689_pc_vhv383ytw_vhv 83ytw_vhv1ytw_vhv20ytw.aspx) like these.

08-12-2010, 03:18 PM
its come a long way and looking good.

08-12-2010, 03:29 PM
i went to napa and bought 3m double sided tape for my balasts but i cleaned both the balasts and where i put them really good then cleaned them again with rubbing alcohol

08-12-2010, 11:25 PM

Yeah it came with ds tape but I don't thnk it was very good tape.and I did clean the area where where it got placed but not the ballast itself, ill get new tape and try cleaning the ballast too this time

08-13-2010, 01:37 AM
Jesus I want one so bad. Stealership wants like $700 for it. Lol! These are prolly more rare than the left side vent knob. I have the knob, anyone wanna trade?

08-13-2010, 01:54 AM
I have both.....

08-13-2010, 04:11 AM
left vent knob? pics of it in the car lol. though im sure its a g5 thing XP

08-13-2010, 04:46 AM
I have both.....

you should donate one to me... i always wondered what those little snaps were for...

08-17-2010, 09:16 PM
well I'm in between a rock and a rare wheel...... had a flat the other day so I took it in yesterday and they fixed it no big deal came home parked it in my driveway, went out later to put it in the garage, and tada! Same tire is flat again.. forward to today, put spare back on last night and took the car and wheel back to discount tire where I bought the tires, hoping they could fix the flat again. It turns out my wheel some how split where the spoke meets the curve of the wheel. Air bubbles like crazy. Coming from the spot of breakage.. any one ever had an aluminum wheel welded/ fixed? This is a rare set of wheels and don want to retire them. Maybe a bike shop maybe??? Help me out with some ideas

08-27-2010, 03:43 PM
check the yellow pages for welders. Anyone that can weld aluminum should be able to fix it. I have a local guy that specializes in aluminum repair.

08-27-2010, 09:03 PM
Thanks tecker! Yeah I found a few people that can do it just gotta get money. Hoping to get it fixed comming week. Before my meet.

08-28-2010, 04:32 AM
i got a card form a guy that does it, if worse comes to worse u could ship it to get it fixed, he quoted me between 40-60 dollars sight unseen fo fix my cracked one

alot of places that do aluminum wont do wheels due to the liability issue

09-10-2010, 04:08 AM
well i got it fixed and its back on the car. discount tire refused to remount their own tire back on the rim since it had been welded(claimed it weaked the rim, i call bs,) but what ever i went to my old job and paid 10 dollars and they mounted it. kinda shitty cuz discount tire should have done it for free, but since i had my wheel repaired instead of buying 4 new wheels from them they were dicks about it.

whats your thoughts on rallyarmour mud flaps on a convertiable?

10-11-2010, 03:10 PM
vert is wrecked waiting for adjuster to estimate it beforee updating sorry guys.

10-30-2010, 04:53 AM
Tear down has begun now that I've picked up my truck load of parts from michael's parents(carbarn bandit)thanks again buddy!

10-30-2010, 05:14 AM

10-30-2010, 05:25 PM
I'm glad those parts worked out for ya. Hope my old man didn't talk your ear off! The frame is going next week and their garage will once again be Celica free! So, thank you!

10-30-2010, 06:58 PM
It was nice meeting him, he did talk our ears off but it was good stuff. Your mom actually had to beg him to come inside....lol wish I would have gotten a pic of the truck loaded up....

Well I hung the drivers side fender to begin woring through john's( captain)write up, got most of it figured out with the marking and trimming but the mud flap still has me baffled, but I know once it get bolted to the car ill figure it out.

10-30-2010, 07:03 PM

But I'm gonna have it refinised before that due to the slight bend and surface rust. Passenger side looks like I should be able to just trim and go for now.

Complete body work to be done once I swap it( no sence in painting it now then scratching it all up working on it just to have it all painted again..

Also. Getting started on my rc bumper parts order shortly

11-05-2010, 12:48 PM
Keep us updated man, really enjoy seeing another convertible.

11-30-2010, 06:27 AM
Little update for everyone.

Haven't touched or thought about the car in a month or so,still pissy about the accident. My4runner decided to take a crap on me once again right before winter(transmission this time), winter was the sole purpose of buying the runner but I have yet to drive it though an entire winter. So the celica needed to become drivable once again....spent about 9hours in the freezing garage ligning up fenders and swaping the drivers side door(twice), and re installing the front bumper cover.

Well the door I got from michael ended up being no good, but hey it was very helpful
Of him to let me take them, got the original door unwired and removed and the replacement installed and halfway wired. Only to discover a rust hole about the size of 2quaters when I shut the door lol, so reveresd the the work just done...grrrr.

Took what I needed (the mirror triangle) and installed it on the original door I can has mirror again!! Still looks like shit but ill get that taken care of once I return from Basic training.

Also am now missing some bolts for the bumper but there's enough so it won't fall off during the next month.

Hey captin!- how did you install the mudflaps to the wide body fenders? It lines up with square holes but well the bolts are a lot smaller.... so all that's left to do it put the liners in the fenders and install the mud flaps and ill be good to go for the few weeks I'm gonna be here..

Will get a pic up tommorow or when ever the rain let's up.

12-04-2010, 07:40 AM
Hey john! Any help or pics of how to mount these mudflaps? I sent you a txt couple days ago....

02-14-2011, 05:17 PM
You ever get your JDM wheel fixed? I used to work for one of the best wheel re-fnishers in the country (Can) but it's a long way from you. It's prollie cost you $50 to straighten and another $40 to paint, but it would have to spend a long time on a bus to get here :)

06-14-2011, 02:45 PM
Wow its been a long time since I updated. I had my wheel welded so its good to go. Unfortunatly no current pics of the car(I'm at ft. Leanordwood training for the army currently) so I haven't seen the car since jan.

Order a few upgrades since I've been gone though:

1st is the SRM tech aluminum air diversion panel(still pending aproval from my wife to send funds)
(Pic courtesy of Celi_wabbit @at.net)

2nd is the Ace engineering underbody brace from Conrad_turbo

Hopefully these will arrive at home around the time I get there in a week or so.
Will update again once I get home.

Well clutch took crap about 2 months ago, so i have everything disassembled .
Gonna order some parts this week to hopefully get it back togather soon.

Kirksaursus motor mount inserts

Going to order:
Exedy OEM replacement clutch kit-ebay
Fidanza friction surface replacement-amazon
Rear main seal-probably autozone

Recommended to order:
Flywheel bolts-oem? Or arp?

If i have the extra cash:
Speed source ss clutch line

Anything im missing? Also need to find a tap and die big enough to rethread the suspension crossmember bolts( stripped/cross threaded), was going to get new bolts but my dealer said he cant find a a p/n for them :-( if anyone knows let me know.
Also going to install my ACE engineering under body brace(finally)

09-19-2012, 06:24 PM
Cool to see some progress.

Could always replace bushings and mounts while you are in there. Thats the only other thing I could think of.

09-22-2012, 03:23 AM
Welll ARP doesn't make replacement flywheel bolts for the 5sfe. They do however make a kit for the 3sgte and the 4age, along with the 1/2zz.

Will 3sgte flywheel bolts work? Id really like to use ARP fasteners.

09-22-2012, 03:48 AM
I would probably just go OE on thoses, can't imagine that failure is that common...

I don't know if the 3SGTE/4AGE/1ZZ would be the same.

I would guess 3SGTE if anything though.

09-23-2012, 03:08 AM
OE are pricey and not as good as ARP. Idk was told that im not suppose to reuse flywheel bolts(due to all the stress they endure) they may break.

09-24-2012, 04:28 PM
I have heard that as well, if my paseo a-splodes all over the place, i'll let you know.

09-24-2012, 07:02 PM
I ordered a set of 5sfe flywheel bolts and when they arrived they said 4AGE on the package. When I contacted the seller they said that they would work. I have test fitted them and torqued them to about 45 to to hold the flywheel on while its on the engine stand and every thing seems to be good.

09-24-2012, 08:18 PM
get an SS clutch line from technafit. they are like $25-30bux + teflon coated.

get an SS clutch line from technafit. they are like $25-30bux + teflon coated.

Better than the speedsource clutch line?

09-25-2012, 03:58 PM
Thats not a bad deal for a part that sees as much abuse as my clutch line must. I'll look into one of these.

09-25-2012, 05:05 PM
Well nothing new to add as bills took precidence over parts once again......at this rate it will be snowing before i get it back togather.....

09-27-2012, 05:13 AM
So i opened up the cap to my clutch master cylinder, and there's a bunch of sediment or something in it( no fluid due to emptying/pulling the line). How should i clean it out? Orbest toget a new master, and try and flush the rest of it out of the slave? Ill get a pic tomorrow.

09-27-2012, 10:30 PM
Flywheel bolts can't be reused because they're a stretch bolt. Meaning, every bolt stretches to an extent when they are torqued, but they return to their normal size when removed. Flywheel bolts do not return- they stay stretched. In low horsepower applications, you can probably get away with reusing them once (depending on age, of course) as long as you use Loctite. I believe the 5S flywheel bolts are a bit thicker near the head than any of the ARP bolts. However, it's a myth that OEM bolts cost more than ARP. A set of 8 flywheel bolts for a 5S (part number 90105-10071) will only set you back $17.60 plus shipping from Lithia.

Hope to see you get this car back on the road soon!

09-28-2012, 02:28 AM

Woot! Progress is progress brother. Glad to see it is still coming along :)

08-06-2013, 05:47 PM
Took apart the flywheel the otherday before:

Will install the new friction surface once I get a 1/4 drive torque wrench as the bolts are designed to be torqued @5ft-lbs. This is critical value as I removed the old bolts they basicly destroyed themselves.

Also decided to clean/ degrease my trans and crossmembers. Turned out ok, some of the crap I cant get off so im gonna have to find some one with a parts washer to finish up the cleaning , but its 100x better than it was.

08-06-2013, 05:53 PM
I just wanna drive it again, at this point I should have just pulled every thing for a full refresh, but I didnt plan on it still being on jackstands a year later.

Crossmember bushings decided to crumble apart when I removed them from the metal for cleaning so thats another expensive purchase I need to make soon. Debating between OE from dealer or yhe Speedsource solid bushings. Price is about the same.

09-01-2013, 03:31 AM
TRANSMISSION is back in the car! Now to finish the rest up this weekend.

Ended up buying new hardware(bolts) for bellhousing. Also got new oem crossmember bushings.

09-01-2013, 03:39 AM
Any tips on switching out the clutch line? Figured it would be better to do with trans in car but now I'm re thinking it, realizing where its located......

09-03-2013, 02:02 AM
Twisted the hardline from the clutch master cylinder, gotta order a new one, if I cant to a yard to attempt to pull one off another car.

Really want o be done working on it and get through the 750mi break in before my meet in 27 days. Which leaves me only about 10 days I can work on it, due to wife and I's work schedules being opposite.

09-07-2013, 02:41 AM
Well I give up on trying to change the clutch soft line, next time I have the trans out I'll do it then.

Grr at not remembering how it goes back togather also im bout to pull my hair out. Really wish I had another member closer to me.....

09-11-2013, 05:54 AM
Everything up top is complete, lower cross member bolted in(front and rear mounts boltedto crossmember). Tomorrow night ill try and tackle axle Installation and suspension crossmember, then all that's left is fluid, lf outer tie rod(I was a dummy and un bolted it and didnt need to.) and a new starter

09-23-2013, 01:46 AM
All back togather! Ace engineering under body brace installed also. Man does it exaggerate how loose my front end is. I knew it was needing a rack and pinion but man is it bad now. Steering is all over the place.

It did feel good to get back behind the wheel regardless.

09-23-2013, 11:36 PM
Well its fact my car hates me. Both rear brake lines decided to blow so its down again until I get money to fix it.

09-24-2013, 04:28 AM

Sorry to hear that man. Shouldn't be too expensive at least, new ones from AutoZone run about $15.00 each if I remember correctly.

09-24-2013, 04:40 AM
Yeah I gotta run 2 new lines front to back, and not damage the fuel lines in the process. The hard line or lines burst about mid way down the car.

Ah, the joy of road salt. Glad to see it's coming along. I just pitched to perfectly clean, freshly painted vert fenders in the dumpster yesterday. Thought of you as the only one I could think of with a 5th gen vert. I tossed the hood too. Both were rust and dent free. Too bad you're way up in Toledo.

09-25-2013, 11:56 PM
Sad why didnt you put em up forsale?

Still haven't figured out how to put the front mud guards on the wb fenders lol.

09-26-2013, 11:01 PM
Saw topless and came in for the boobs.

Got new tank installed, fired it up only to find a leak in one of the hard lines from the pump. Got some high pressure fuel line to replace it with, will do that tomorrow.
