It don't fit! :saythat:

Not sure WTF I'm missing here.... either way I try to bolt it up it's just to f'ing long. I can secure the rear bolts/dampers fine, but then the front doesn't line up (off by like 1/4", maybe less). Either way I try, I can't get the damn thing to bolt in.

This just user error on my part?

Bent chasis?

I don't see any clear damage showing it's bent. There is some damage on what looks like PS lines running down there, but nothing serious, just looks like a rock or something was driven into.

LOL, Mr T strikes again!

I recently tried to swap crossmembers between pre and facelift and found out they are also different

So this doesn't surprise me at all

Here's the pre vs facelift proof -
"My engine mount problem turned out to be the wrong crossmember and rear mount, the TEMS crossmember
was pretty shabby, dented etc so I used the one from UH -
Looks the same?

Forget it, check out the hole spacing - there are other differences as well, ie the bushes are different
thicknesses/shapes as well between the pre-post facelift cars

Facelift on left has narrower spacing and thinner bushes, flat mounts etc"

You're fucking telling me.

Guess I'll figure out how to modify my 162 crossmember to take the st165 mount & bracket now.

Guess I'll sell the crossmembers now.

Damn.

Guess now we need to add to the swap list that it is necessary to use the pre-facelift x-members on a pre-facelift chassis.

LOL, wait till you guys come across the GE gen1 V1/V2 motors
Yes there's 2 different types of Gen1

I guess the designers must have been REEAAALLEE bored in those days....
add in digital dashes, TEMS, regional variations and you have a parts nightmare

Interested to see which of these that 165 item resembles as it may also be a pre-post problem

Yep. Chock another one up to 'measure twice cut once' (but I didn't cut anything lol).

Wonder if I can make these crossmembers into something useful....

No, you hold on to them in case I need them. Dick.

I'm just glad I didn't toss the 162's :) I'd be royally fucked then.

Think you're talking about the flywheel.

I'm referring to the north/south crossmember of the 165.

I gave up on the elusive 6 bolt GE, but maybe nzceli's 85 GTS will prove me wrong?
