hi im looking for some help please. some time ago i rebuilt my 3sgte engine. i used a cosmetic gasket and arp head studs. i was told after 1000miles it would need the arp bolts re-torquing. is that right. if so ,can anybody remember the torque setting please. i carnt remember if it were 63ftlbs or 70 or 75 . thanks:dunno::dunno:

Give it time bro.. 30 minute bump?

IIRC it's like 65.. but 75 also sounds familiar. I don't have the paper anymore that gave the specs for torque.

Would have to look in a BGB but it's probably at least 75. In any event, knowing the torque spec does you ZERO good if you don't also have the torque pattern, you'll just turn your head into a potato chip and destroy all the work you did. Also, 1000 miles is kind of long and risky for the first retorque, but if that's where you are, oh well, it is what it is.

You need the service manual for the pattern, not just the torque though, and if you didn't use that the first time. I hope your head is ok..

It's Cometic btw I think.

The ARP bolts take a differnet torque setting than the stock toyota bolts. That threw me off for a bit, cuz it was like 20 ft/lb more than what stock calls for.

3sgte bolt pattern below....

11 7 3 1 5 9
12 8 4 2 6 10

HI. JUST TO LET YOU ALL NO AS NOBODY SEEMS TO NO.THIS IS THE TORQUE SETTINGS FOR THE ARP BOLTS. THIS IS FROM ARP. The torque for kit number 203-4204 is 60 ft/lbs using the ARP Moly Lube or Ultra Torque and 70 ft/lbs using 30wt engine oil.

ALL I DID WAS THROW AWAY THE SPEC SHEET AFTER THE REBUILD. THAT WAS ALL. IF I DIDNT NO WHAT I WAS DOIN WITH THE ENGINE REBUILD I DONT THINK IT WOULD OF GONE 1 MILE NEVER MIND THE 1000MILES IT DID DO LOL. THE OTHER QUESTION NOBODY SEEMED TO KNOW IS THE 205 TURBO WILL DIRECTLY FIT WITH NO TROUBLE AND IN MY OPINION IS MUCH BETTER THAN THE CT26. I WILL LET YOU NO TOMORROW ABOUT THE INJECTORS AND THE RAIL AS I WAS TO BUSY PLAYING INSTEAD OF TRYING THESE.

it's actually 64 ft/lbs for stock torque. or if you bothered to use the search button you'd find that most builders use 85 ft/lbs.

it also depends on power you are making. On my 2ZZ and 2JZ i torqued the head studs to 80lbs simply because im making big power. wow the 2 combined is over 1200 HP, thats cool!
