Just got a set of 215/40/17 y rated for my wheels. Very comparable review and stats to the bfg kdw 2 which I origanslly wanted. But almost 50 dollars cheaper. I paid 540.11 with a set of lugnuts and replacement certs at discount tire today. Got the tires for 89 a piece. I will get a pic up later and a review once installed on car

Excellent tires, smart buy, (though you should have gone to Tire Rack).

I have heard mixed reviews about the stiffness of the sidewalls, however, depending in your driving style, you may or may not have issues with them.

Avoid curbs though.

Give us your opinion on them after a couple of weeks.

Never had an issue with mine. Best tire I've owned to date.

I was gonna go through tirerack.com but discout price matched them for me and I got the replacment certs. They price matched with shipping though because tirerack would ship them. I didn't understand at first but my wife explained it too me later. I will give a full review of them after there on the car and have driven them a while. With the 40 series sidewall I won't have any issues with a soft side walls its to damn short. Most of the issues I read about the sidewalls is people hitting large potholes at full speed(which will destroy any tire)and them running on curbs parking on street.
Ill get pics up later.

Run at least 40 psi in those tires, if they'll take it, makes a huge handling difference, even before Jaz was feeling connected to the car she could tell the difference between 35 and 40 psi.

Does she have em on the mr2?

03-06-2010, 11:06 PM
No, I have 215/40/17s on my car, and that's where she would tell the difference.

Oh ok. It might be just your tire. I'm gonna try with what its at now
They won't be going on the car for a few weeks I have to get a steering rack and brakes first. Any tip on the steering rack? Engine is still in car

well i wont be able to get the steering rack anytime soon so i put them on after i finished the brake job on Thursday, i didn't really get to test them very well due to time constraint9on way to and from work, but initial feel is these are awesome tires, held through every corner i pushed them through, including the s curve at the end of my street which i normally go around at 15 mph or less i held at 35mph this morning, even though i was hesitant because of the rain( haven't got to drive them on dry pavement yet.) hope fully tomorrow. i wanted to see what i was dealing with, will update after i get some time on dry pavement.(keep in mind i think my suspension is all original)

quick pic while in the work parking lot

psi is set at 32 all four corners
