So a colleague of mine and I are purchasing or attempting to purchase a ST165 for some rally shinanigans and the seller has just informed us he has misplaced the cross member... Not exactly a set of keys... but fine, no cross member. Front cross member, the part that sits under the engine, mounts front to back, engine and trans mounts to it, etc... Are they the same across all variations (I come from a 6GC background so I know these are all the same, ST205, AT200, ST204...) and.. does someone have a lead on one?

Thanks,

Mike

No, the st165 is different than the 162's crossmember.

I've heard the 162's crossmember can work, but it needs the rear mount holes re-drilled

Very very tough fit. I honestly believe even with redrilling to fit the rear mounts you'll still have fitment issues. Not worth it, source out a 165 cross member. I know, I tried it.

there are several of us that have used the stock 162 crossmember. no real issues.

Your Toyota dealer can get you one.

True, but if you're like me who hates drilling buying one and using it is a bit easier :)

Also, no one has any sort of usable template to make sure it is done properly with no chance of error.

Better to just use the real deal.

Remember, not everyone has the fabrication skills or confidence to do that sort of thing. ;)

Yeah - the Toy dealer can get it ~ $350 retail... it doesn't matter anymore since the sale fell through.... so thanks for posting
