Hey all, I was looking for a new car for my wife(new to her) and stumbled across this one on MSN Autos and wondered what the Pro's here thought about what they see.

MSN Autos 1995 Toyota... (http://autotrader.autos.msn.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=260963846&dealer_id=100021918&car_year=1995&rdm=1266847349448&lastStartYear=1981&num_records=25&systime=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1981&engine=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&certified=&body_code=7&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=used&distance=25&marketZipError=false&color3=&color2=&search_lang=en&showZipError=n&make=&color=&keywords_display=&page_location=findacar::ispsearchform&min_price=&body_style=CONVERT&body_style=COUPE&body_style=HATCH&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=d&position=top&max_mileage=&style_flag=2&sort_type=priceASC&address=40513&advanced=&end_year=2011&transmission=&doors=&max_price=15000&cardist=22&standard=false)

According to KBB and Edmunds it's overpriced, but that could maybe be negotiated.

Transmission is fail.

I'd offer half the asking. Mine is barely worth 3k, and I don't have that many more miles on it. GT automatic is kind of fail, but seems to be in decent shape otherwise. I've seen a lot worse.

I wouldn't touch it, new top or not.

If it has a factory alarm, I would also leave it alone.

Not at all a good buy/

Geeze for 9g you can buy an alltrac!

Way over priced, plus the 5S-FE auto is sloooow. a 5S-FE manual walks away from me without even trying.

jeeez waaay over priced f that.

you all fail, the vehicle would mainly be for his wife, not him, id imagine automatic would be the best bet. The 2.2 5sfe engine is almost bullet proof, i put almost 300,000 miles on one before the car was sold. never replaced the transmission either.

if i were him and she like the 6th gen, id look for one for sale on elsewhere because that one is overpriced, although around here unless the 6th gen has over 200,000 miles on it they still sell for 3,000-6,000 range. try craigslist, more autotrader, or 6gc.net

For the wife, its a good car, but not for the price. That asking price is ridiculous. Any seller asking that much obviously doesn't know anything and isn't worth your time.

I used to have a 5s auto and I rode in a manual a few months ago and I agree that there is a world of difference between the 2.
