I have a low km gen 2 3sge and gen 3 3sge, and i need one of them to replace the dead gen 1 sittin in my 87' st162. Which would be easiest to fit? I'd prefer to use the gen 2 and save the gen 3 for my other car.

Might seem lame, but i don't want to use another gearbox, as i don't have a spare. and the original works. i just need to get back on the road asap.

are the flywheels different? can i use the 162 flywheel? and clutch?

any help or links to threads would be awesomely appreciated. I just need to get mobile again, i'm carless and am being forced to hop back on the old push bike sad5

Well any of them will fit in the st162. Someone else correct me if I'm wrong, but in order to install either the gen2 or gen3 engine, you'll need the corresponding wiring harness & ECU, and have the fun times of the wiring harness conversion to allow it to work.

Also, did y'all happen to get the st205 and/or st215 there in Australia?

no st215, 205 though we have a few around. rare though.

i've decided i'm going to fit the gen 2 into my 162, and gen 3 into my 184. Both have dead engines...

its a hard life lol.
