View Full Version : 1.3 bar radiator cap TRD/SARD on st165 intercooler/coolant reservoir?
I am going to be replacing my radiator and getting either a SARD or TRD 1.3 bar type S radiator cap for it. I want to change the reservoir cap and intercooler cap as well. Is it okay to put a higher pressure cap on the intercooler? Any advantages/disadvantages to this?

Using a higher pressure cap will RAISE the boiling point of the water.
Just replace everything with the stock ratings, you'll be fine.
But isn't that a good thing?

I don't know man.
I am tired right now. :)
I'm sure you will be fine either way.

1.3 def for the radiator cap. will stop coolant bubbling after the engine is off. reduces hot spots when the water pump turns off.. rest are fine!!! TRD FTW
Yeah I would get TRD 'cept they are around $50 A PEICE...SARD caps are the same pressure/design and I can get those for $22 each.
Probably will do 1.3bar caps on reservoir/intercooler as well unless someone can convince me that I'm better off running the stock .9bar caps (they need to be replaced either way).

Just do them all the same. 1.3/1.3
Good deal. Thanks 90'GT-FOUR and shadowlife25. Will report back here if engine blows up/melts/I see Bigfoot/etc. :)

no. use the dummy cap on the radiator and the 1.3 bar on the pressure tank.
the intercooler is fine with the stock cap.
