I like write-ups and How-To's.

I think we all do, don't we?

Well, how does this sound:

Post in this thread for any How-To's you would like to see here.
I will after a week make a POLL that lists them.
You will all vote for your top 5 choices.

After the top 5 are chosen:

We will have you members sign up to do them.
We will post all of them (TOP 5) when done and you will choose the winners!

Requirements:

A well worded text based instruction set from start to finish.
GOOD (See: No cell phone pics!) photos of the entire process.

Prize:

I will pay for a 1 year Supporting Membership for the 5 members who win as well as a custom logo under your user name!!!

Let's get this party started !!!! :burnout::bigthumbu

How To: Use the JDM Electric Speedo Sensor and Speedo gauge in your 5th Gen.

I want this because I have the parts to do it and my mech one went bad. Or else I will have to figure it out by myself.

Everyone:

I posted this in the General section so everyone could see it and contribute their ideas.

I am now cleaning this thread of all non pertinent information.

If you do not have a legitimate suggestion, do not post/

This includes MR2 How-To's right? ;)

As long as they are engine/tranny related and not completely MR2 specific, yes.

Sang:

If you do a full instructional with photos as stated above (So a n00b can follow it) then I can enter it in the running.

Newer Write-Ups would be appreciated though, as the Fuel Rail one is already in our database. :)

I also think it would be cool if the admin team tried to get all the really valuable info into a single area. Not trying to call the admin out, My interwebz life depends on them, just saying it would be cool to know where to look when I need to know.

Could call it the room of sticky.

I have been for a month or so now. It's all right here:

Anything not there is because I have not had time yet or it is already in the tech archives.

Keep the ideas coming everyone, we have some great suggestions so far!

How about an aftermarket Coil-Over install, as well as ball joints and inner and outer tie rod ends?

I might even do a HU install too. Hardwired, since Chaos had her harness cut out years ago by some tattooed yokel.

Whether you want them or not, I will try to do these, but however, I haven't done a write-up before... So it might be hard.

I don't have any for either. Was in a rush when I rebuilt my own turbo that I couldn't be bothered stopping and washing hands for pictures. :) I'm heading out to inspect a local's td06 on Saturday and as long as there isn't any wheel damage, I should be rebuilding his within the next few weeks and can take pictures/write-up then.

I probably wouldn't be able to do a complete write up on AN fittings, but maybe one of the vendors here could if they have some free time on their hands? Tooling alone can range into the $1000's for crimping machines, flaring tools, spreaders, et cetera. I'm a bottom barrel kind of guy that makes due with cutter type hoses and auto-fit hose ends. :)

My favorite is already currently in progress: Sang's turbo rebuild

Shadowlife25
02-27-2010, 03:23 AM
But it is only part 1 of 2 so we have to wait until it is complete. ;)

I like it very much also.

One update to it though: Toyota Turbines are balanced from the factory as well.
This means that his rebuild technique will apply to the CTxx series of turbines as well. :)

Depending on if the weather gets nicer soon (and I get all my parts in for my projects) I could do the write-up on coil-overs and rear sway bar. A few of the other jobs are holding me back at the moment though.

If I thought I had the time/supplies for R&D I'd do one on doing LED tails too but I'm no where close to opening that can of worms.

I think this one should count, it was done after the contest started.

[How-To] Wiring heated mirrors (http://www.celicatech.com/forums/showthread.php?47646-How-To-Wiring-heated-mirrors&p=30098276#post30098276)

I still have to finish up the final wiring but for the most part it's complete.

You all have until December to contribute something if you would like to have a chance to win.

I'll see if I can come up with something else from my project build, provided I have enough detailed pics. I'll start digging through my pics and see what I can find.

Options I have include: Interior recolor, coilover/swaybar install, alignment using turn plates, etc. If there's anything simple someone wants to see done but doesn't have the time I can take a stab at it.

I would like us to have a good install on coil-overs/sway-bars. After all this is Celica TECH, no? ;)

I will fully honor the terms of the contest even if you are the only entrant.

Good luck.

If a good coilover/swaybar write-up (for 5th gens) doesn't pop up by the time the weather gets nice again, I'll re-do my swap for it. Gives me an excuse to take it apart and clean up everything after winter. Apparently I didn't take as many pics as I had thought during the build.
