So... yeah... Going from 30MPH - 0 in no time is not feeling so good right now...

Anyways... Yeah, as some of you already know I crashed into an old lady as she blasted a stop sign. How old you ask?

Amazingly crappy cell phone picture... but what is says is 12-24-1920... That's right... 89 years old. Best part of it was after the crash her first statement was "Oh, I didn't even know anything happened..."

Nice lady but still... how do you not notice that your tank of an El Dorado randomly scooted over 2 feet? Or that the top of your window is now 8 inches from the top of the door... Oh yeah, you're TOO OLD!

I'm really sad for the damage to your car, but glad everyone is alright.

01-09-2010, 09:05 AM
Wow, that sucks.

How extensive is the damage?

01-09-2010, 09:41 AM
Glad to see you're okay. But I know what you mean. We need mandatory driving tests after age 60 every 2yrs.

So sorry dude. I honestly don't know how I'd react if someone caused a wreck to my celi after putting so much into it. Hopefully there isn't any frame damage or anything. From the pic everything looks fixable.

01-09-2010, 05:44 PM
Hope you are going to be ok.

Sucks about your car...Why don't stupid people just pull out in front of people who could care less about their car and put no work into them.

01-09-2010, 06:33 PM
that sucks. what are your plans for the car?

01-09-2010, 07:48 PM
joey please tell me u at least got checked out

01-09-2010, 10:22 PM
So I don't know what the damage is or what is going to happen now. Regardless of the damage I'm going to buy it back, at least for all the parts, etc. So we'll see where that puts funds. If the frame is not too off I'll probably just repair it and get a salvage title on her and then cage/gut her for the class (that was the plan anyways).

Yeah my neck is pretty painful right now but I know it could have been much, much worse. Like say I was 20ft ahead and then she would have t-boned into my drivers side.

I went to the chiropractor last night but he was only able to do a quick exam. I'm scheduled for a full workup/xrays on monday.

Too bad Sean isnt closer to you.

01-10-2010, 05:27 AM
Omg so sad to see .. Hope it all works out for you

01-10-2010, 08:41 AM
TAKE THAT GRANDMA!!! seriously, glad to hear your doingok

01-10-2010, 09:14 PM
Damage to the frame might be pretty jacked especially cause of the core support deal. Hopefully I'm wrong though. Really sucks man. I know you put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into that baby. BUT, if you do decide to part, I'll give ya a fair price for those 7gen wheels. Don't mean to be pessimistic for ya, but I offer also to help you out funding wise. (I only need 1 wheel, but would be willing to buy all 4 to help ya out). Keep us posted and hope you start feeling better.

Yeah I drove her home today, had to ratchet strap down the hood all ghetto because I don't trust the hood latch. Yeah, totally out of wack, steering is off and since the car didn't impact on any of the steering assembly, frame = bent.

I don't know what I'll be getting rid of as I'll be picking up a replacement shell for her to transport the parts.

Plus, I've got another 5th gen the parts are going on to. But if you'd like to buy some ST205 wheels I've got those, and soon I'll probably part with my SSRs.

01-11-2010, 05:22 PM
I'm sorry to hear that the frame is bent. That really blows.

01-11-2010, 07:18 PM
thats not good, but at least you have another 5th gen already.

01-11-2010, 07:54 PM
transport parts into a 6th gen;)

u get checked out today?

01-12-2010, 01:11 AM
Joey, sorry to hear about the car but I'm really glad to hear that you're OK.

01-12-2010, 02:16 AM
Wow, hate to see that sweet ride all bent up, (actually, pics didn't load so I don't see), I'm glad that you are keeping the faith and getting another celi

01-12-2010, 02:39 AM
I am really glad you're ok, sorry to hear about your wheels man, especially after reading about some of the things you've done to it.

Also, Im glad to hear you're looking for a replacement to transplant...should be fun!

Good Luck

01-12-2010, 05:56 AM
Yeah, I got checked out today, really it was do some range of motion tests and a buttload of x-rays. We'll do a full review of them on Wednesday but he said since my range of motion is ok I can go back to work so long as I'm careful.

As much as I like the looks of the 6th gen the design of the singular subframe vs the two crossmembers for the 5th gen make doing a clutch more of a PITA than it really needs to be and I don't want to deal with wiring it to a new car.

No, I'll probably just find another 5th gen to transplant the parts into. I don't want to put the stuff in the white car as the hatchback is heavier and not as stiff. I'd like to just get another GT Coupe to build for the track car.

01-12-2010, 06:02 AM
keep us informed

im still trying to get my friend debra to to get checked out cause now shes hurting a lil more (a durango pulled out in front of her and she was probally going 50)

oh and booo on u not using a 6th gen

Hate to hear i man - it's got to be tough - as the body is everything - it that's too bent - time to start over.

The great thing about Alzheimer's is that you get to meet new people everyday.

Well, we'll see, if I can get panels back on it and can still align the car I might just reinforce the hell out of it and call it good. It was being sidelined for race only duty anyways.
