View Full Version : Anybody in NC running a header without CAT?

Just wondering if any Celica owner in NC has experience with the NC emissions inspection.

I'm concerned as my latest car is running a header and as far as I know has no CAT. I lucked out in that as I bought the car out of state, I'm not required to have an inspection until next year.

As near as I can tell - as my car is a '92 without ODBII - I won't even need emissions inspection regardless of the county I live in - but I'm not really sure.

So - just wondering if I'll be needing to look into a hi-flow CAT and modification to the exhaust system this year.

I have the original cast iron exhaust manifold, but sure would hate to need to install it every year just to get an inspection.

Most inspection stations don't actually look for the required items in the inspection IME. If the car is over 15 years old then you do not have to pass the emissions sniffer in NC so they seem to just not worry about it. No one has ever looked at or for the CAT or EGR system either.

Cliff notes: You should be fine.
