View Full Version : My GT4 trifecta is complete! My new 185 "The Organ Donor"

So today I purchased another gt-four, however this one isn't for driving. Unfortunately this one had an unfortunate collision with a set of parking blocks. (note to self - donuts in parking lots are dangerous!) I feel bad for the owner as he was definitely sad about the fate of the car. The good news is he's planning to get back on it with an ST205 if he can source a good one.

'93 model, Jap import, 129,xxx km's on it (~80,000 miles). Stock aside from a turbo timer.

So, the engine will be pulled and be transplanted into my brother's ST162. He has the cleanest 162 I have ever seen, so it'll be great adding some well needed horsepower.

The rest of the 185 shell will be parted out. :( I will get a thread started for that when I'm ready.

So, here's some pics.

The 'before' shots this summer:

And 'after' :(

And here's my bro's GTS. He goes by RyanD on the board. I feel a project thread coming soon!

I've advised him to "get on it". :hehe:

lol, maybe someday, but my current garage space does not allow for more cars. As it stands right now, my 165 will be on the street as of tomorrow night - and it is my actual project / fun car! :( We've also got a lot of GT4's here, so I could pretty easily find one with a decent body to start with if I were to go that route.

Organ donor may have found a friend in extremeskillz. ;)

Looks like I'm going to have to teach the Dittrick brothers the true meaning of "cleanest 162". ;)

I saw that car on Kijiji Chris, I feel sorry for the guy that smashed it. How much did you end up picking it up for? You didnt give him the asking price? I think he was asking for a few k's, a little steep for me for a smashed car.

Im up in Hidden Valley, where do you guys hang out?

Definitely! :)

haha, not going to happen. There's a lot of unknown damage too, eg. unibody, all of the drivetrain, transmission, plus the body damage. Not cost effective unfortunately.

Cleanest 4th gen I've ever seen! It's about time it gets well needed 3S-GTE power plant.

After a deep polish, of course. I'm not necessarily in competition with anyone...just happy that I'll finally get to bring the power along with the looks. :)

Although I am intrigued, RedRkt01. ;)

would those rain gaurds fit a 205? If so how much? My poor old car, such a shame to see it in ruins like that. But if it can help others complete there cars than it will live on.

Nice to meet you, Ryan. Your car looks great! I am impressed as I truly appreciate ST162 owners that take pride in their Celica the way I do. Mine looks much as yours does save for the black trimwork. Mine was that way on the dealership lot, but my father insisted it be color matched to the rest of the car when he bought it for himself in 1989. Springtime should conclude the restoration work. When the winter weather is gone for the year she'll be heading to the paintbooth for a new application of 3E5. I don't think I'll be able to make it this year, but it would be great if we could park next to each other at the Dragon meet (or any meet) sometime.

I am pretty sure that they are different from 5th to 6th gen. I'll have to check them out, but they are a pretty rare part so I can see myself looking for ~$150.

Definitely sad, but yes this car will give life to a number of others. :)

I'm hoping to get it towed to my garage tonight. Tried last night, but due to the weather the tow truck wait times were insane (5 hours!). Fingers crossed.

May I have more photos of hi-resolution?
Both of the cars look amazing in that photo.

Glad to have you on Ryan.

Chris, those wait times ARE insane.
Longest I have ever waited is 2.5hours.

Very nice looking set of cars there. Is that original red paint? looks very well kept. Great job.

An entertaining evening and the car still couldn't get to my place.

Tow truck took 3 hours last night. Gotta love winter. So the guys show up, then almost immediately proceed to get their truck stuck in the snow. Owned by RWD and shitty tires. Through a series of events, we shovel the snow out and throw down cat litter, he jacks himself up and moves and eventually digs his front wheels into the snow in front of him. Then, he attaches a winch to an old telephone pole and winches himself out while his foot's on the gas. The pole makes some aweful noises and he backs up to within an inch of the fence as we yell to stop. Eventually he gets unstuck and gives up trying to get to the car.

So it's going to be above freezing for the next few days, hopefully some of that melts and we can give it a shot on Monday.

fun times.

Oh yeah, last night was "fun" alright. What a pain in the butt.

Sure thing. I have them posted at pretty high resolution on my Flickr account (1000x600 IIRC), but I can probably post up the originals too when I get home from work. Here's the small set from that evening:

It is, save for the left-rear quarter when I was hit last year in a parking lot, but the body shop did a great job to fix it. And thanks. :)

Nice pickup... Lol too bad it doesn't have a rc front bumper cause I'd be all over that. Think the swap will be done for this summer?

Yep, we'll be doing the majority of the swap in the next few months, in time for spring. Should definitely be ready for Ogopogo 2010. :D

We got the car successfully towed today. It was still a tough one to get out of the owners garage, but we made it. It now sits in my garage beside the 205, unfortunately the 165 sits on the street for the time being. Lots of work to come!

Thanks for the organs Chris. They will be put to good use one day soon. I had to leave the Toyota in the back of my truck, I have no help at this time, maybe I can bug someone to help me tomorrow.

Cheers!
