So I'm just curious to know, has anyone tried to put 13" wheels on a 90-91 GT?

I doubt it would fit, I've seen the clearance a 14" has on a 93 vert (still the 255mm front, rear disc). I don't think it would fit over the caliper.

Hrmmm... Guess I'll stick with 15" wheels... That's too bad. Wonder if I can swap to ST hubs for clearance.

Are talking about the 4x100 hubs? or the 92+ 5x100 hubs?

I think even the `92-93 STs went to a 14" stocker.

Why are you wanting to run a 13" Joey?

If you do the ST hub swap, you would have to run the brakes too, which would give you clearance.

I would run 13" wheels when roadracing. Worked great on 1st gen rwd Celicas.

I was thinking swapping the whole hub but looking @ it doesn't seem like a matter of clearance vertically as much as laterally. I think if a 13" wheel was spaced out it would clear the 255mm... I think.

The reason is yeah, race tires in 13" are cheap, wheels are light, tires are light, lower center of gravity, etc.

And if I can get the celi down to 2000lbs I really shouldn't have to worry about brake fade if I did swap down to ST brakes.

With Chaos sitting around 2300lbs, I haven't had an issue with the brakes once I swapped my fluid out. When the fluid would boil it would have issues, but I haven't had that happen lately. With a manual tranny, I don't think it would happen period.

I used to think the fourth gen drums were bad, but considering I've rear-ended an Asian girl by locking up the swapped discs means that it's me. :sneak:

Airc the 5th gen ST brakes are identical to the 4th gen ST/GT brakes. If so, no problem with thirteens obviously, but they are tight. If the 5th gen ST is a larger diameter it might be a no-go.

What sucks is that a friend let me use his garage to do the swap, and I let him keep the hubs/calipers/brackets/drums/wheels to sell for scrap. I didn't think anyone would ever want them!

The 5th Gen ST (at least `90-91) came with 13" wheels.

I'm willing to guess that's more to do with your tires than your brakes dude.

Good to know. I've actually already ordered 15" tires for the time being, I'll try these out this season and see if I feel the need to switch to 13".
