Finally starting my project thread. getting tired of the same o look, so i decided to take a different route. the bodykit scene has been gone for the longest time now and its time to jump on the CS/RC bandwagon. so far, i have collected some parts. I have complete rear bumper, under tail light piece, CS/RC bumper, middle faux carbon fiber peice, and all mounting hard ware. here are some pics.

first pulled the car into the garage... let the stripping begin...

zen

yeah, im still hunting down some 99 celica sides for it.. but for now, its going to stay yellow with those sides on them. i just rather not drive around in the celica with part of the body primered up.

Looking good man, you are brave.......I wanted to take my kit off too but feared unmolding everything, I also had like a gagillion drywall screw countersunk into mine.

yeah, i know what you mean. the rear didn't have to many screws on it. but the sides skirts are going to be a pain. i have numerous rivets in them and im going to have a lot of fun getting them out. not to mention covering up the holes i drilled for the rivets......

^^^thanks cavanagh... but even with the bodykit and funky yellow paint?? yes, you do spy a SW20... thats my little brothers 1991 mr2 turbo. we just bought it not to long ago for 3600 bucks. only bad thing about it was salvage title and we bought it as lien sale. but after showing it some TLC, the car looks amazing aside from the dents and all at lease.

updating you guys on the progress of debodykitting a celica. found a nice set of 6th sideskirts today
at the junkyard. i paid 24 bucks for them. the passenger side is in okay shape except it seems to be
warped in a way were it won't revert or pop back to its original shape. also, anyone have any experience
with welding plastic? i was told you could do this with a zip tie and heating up a flat head screwdriver.
anyways, the sides begins to come off. first of all, i need to find all the rivets i used when molding the
kit on.

yea, i have but i want to add a twist to it. i wanted a full lip kit for the car instead of just leaving it plain. plus, 5th gen's didn't have sideskirts, but they added on mud flaps in the front and a panel on the underside in the rear. i think the convertible sideskirts would look good too.

hks hi power muffler. currently running greddy muffler because its super quiet. even with the cat delete.
im not that good at welding, but its good enough to not leak at all.
enjoy....

sorry about the wait guys, but this is whats been stirring up in the garage. most of you guys were right,
from the previous updates, i've done vented corners, 25mm wheel adaptor/spacer, sportmax 962's with 17X7
in the front with 215/40/17, 17X9 in the rear with 235/40/17 with gold finish, and rolled fenders in the rear.
overall, finally covered up the big gap in the rear of the car. it flushes with the body just fine. the front wheels have an offset of +38, then -25 from the wheel adaptors equals +13 offset. now the rears are +35, then -25 from wheel adaptors equals +10 offsets.

So, you ended up with 25mm spacer at all 4 corners? I'm interested in this because I have the very same wheel setup on my ST184 instead that I have 17x7 and 215/40/17 at all 4 corners. Did you need to roll the front fenders?

Really nice BTW!!!

hey sam, yes its 25mm all the way around. the front fits just fine and clears the fender wonderfully. actually, it flushes with fender. the rear needed to be rolled. but then again, you are only running 17x7 in the rear so it should clear the quarter panel just fine.

finally had the chance to fit the 6th gen sides skirts on. they weren't that bad mounting them. the only
thing that sucked was that one side was jacked up pretty bad from the junkyard. over, had to massage them to
fit with the use of a propane torch to soften them up. used 3m tape on the edges and used 1/2 screws to secure
the underside of them. now all i need is paint.

Update for u guys... So read thru mr2oc.com tutourial on making ur own bodykit and decided to give it a shot... So i started with the rear spoiler just to know what im getting myself into. It came out alright so i decided to finish it up. The molding process included sculpting with plastic flower base styrofoam. This stuff is easy to work with, but makes a big mess. So far this what i got. What do u guys think? Would u guys sport this?

Looks good.

Cant believe that i never thought of doing this. I have made dashs, sub boxes, door panel and such stuff(tryed a headliner once but failed due to lack of skills/patients). But never a body kit.
After seeing how nice yours looks I think im going to try it out.

I never read the tutorial at mr2oc.com but im assuming that it said you could use fiberglass or carbon fiber?

Can't wait to see it finished

It wasnt really a tutorial but more a project thread. It turned out great, but lots of patience is needed. Heres the link to mr2oc thread: http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=305645

so after so long waiting for pistons and selling items off and saving, the lip is now back in full affect. after 3 months run around with logic motorsports and no refunds of my current pistons, ive finally decided to continue the lip due lost of time dealing with logic motorsports. lip is 90% finish and jus making last adjustments to it. wow this lip has been through so many stages of changing and cutting and bondo'ing its starting look better. here are current pictures of the lip and mocking up.

i also custom fitted these hood struts for my carbon hood. i used 5gen celica coupe trunk lid support shocks to hold the hood as it only weighs 15lbs.

last pics is of the hood closed and it flushes well. im going to do more developement in this area too as i would like to offer these to u guys with stock/alltrac/rc hoods. the weight difference means stronger struts. also, im planning on producing these lips too and i know a couple of you guys are interested and would like to get a rough estimate of interest in it.

I saw a green 5th gen on the freeway. Good coat of polish, she'll sparkle in the California sun. Great color. Be glad you left the yellow behind. Your Celica looks cleaner then a riced out eBay toy.

its been crazy and expensive registering the car. but i found these 3000gt vr4 four piston calipers at the yard for $20 a caliper. *good thing is that they bolt up to stock celica caliper bracket. *the hole must be enlarged to do so. *i tested them being mounted and the braket pushes out the caliper so far out that it will not clear 17in wheels. *so i chopped off a portion of the bracket and redrilled and tapped new holes into it to mount the calipers.*
