Hey guys,

Sorry to ask a n00b question but; How exactly do I identify which (S53/C52) trannie is in my 2.2L GT Coupe?

Is a MR2 LSD trannie compatible with my car?

Thanks!

Ok a mr2 trans has the shift linkage on the front of the trans and the celica has it on the rear of the trans. Some one will be able to help more explain other diffrences.

find a solara manual tranny, that will work better.

As I recall the C series is only for the A blocks. Anyone wanna second that? My brain's been broken lately.

Either way the year of your car would be helpful. 90-93 would be the S53, 94-99 would be the S54.

You can use pretty much any S or E series transaxle on that block, but some require modification.

Chris.....I don't remember well enough to second that, but that completely makes sense/rings a bell in my head.

Sorry, I have a 1992. Basically, I was just wondering if an MR2 LSD trannie is a "bolt-on" upgrade.

I Google'd after I posted and found that I'd have to use MR2 inner axles & Celica outer axles. So after reading that, I'd say no to the "bolt-on."

Correct, the C series transmissions do fit the A series block. So your 92 should be a S53 transmission, unless it's been swapped for an S54.
