Was taking off the throttle body when this piece broke off.

Anyone know what it might be? and if it's important?

Sorry for the craptacular pictures, my iphone sucks.

Isn't that a VSV? Someone else should confirm this. I thought that attached to the back of the engine.

You need to resize those images.
If they're smaller, the quality gets better.

looks like a vsv filter. You need it but shouldnt be a biggie unless you broke the vsv too.

Got it. ;)

It is a filter. Did you somehow break the valve it went to or did it simply come off?

I'm not quite sure how I broke it. I was attempting to remove the throttle body and heard a plastic 'snap' and I found that piece laying there.

and the VSV is the Vaccum switching valve? Anyone know what a replacement one would cost, and can I run the car until I pick up a replacement?

seeing as how I did this on a 2nd gen 3S....you sure that isnt a part of the EGR valve? If I'm correct the egr sits right there off the intake manifold and receives a vacuum source from the throttle body....Seeing as how you were right in that area I would check that to make sure its all in tact...my .02 cents
