10-01-2009, 01:39 AM
You guys see anything good on the 2ZZGE front, please let me know.

Im looking to buy an engine to put in my 7th gen. Im gonna finally fix this thing.

10-01-2009, 02:41 AM
ryan has one.

10-01-2009, 03:21 AM
^^ THat was quick :hehe:

Does Bugs have one around still, or is it in his current build?

10-01-2009, 04:24 AM
mine is in my car right now. it may be better to buy a new long block from toyota motor sports. i priced a short block from them for around 1250 when i found out mine was bad. you have to pay shipping still but it will save money.

how many parts do you really need? i thought you had a good head.

10-01-2009, 07:46 AM
Wait what? You have to pay shipping? At least the LSD was still shipping free.

10-01-2009, 04:36 PM
I really just dont want to mess with rebuilding it.

Id rather just take a weekend, swap one out, swap one in.

I guess if I could get a good deal on a shortblock Id go for it. I dont have a toyota motorsports account and I dont autocross so I cant get one. Joey could get one for me and have it shipped tho. :)

Yeah, and Vip is a dick, and he wont pull it, or commit to selling it, not to mention it has a lot of miles on it and I really dont want one with that many miles on it.

10-02-2009, 01:31 AM
You guys seriously fucking fail sometimes.

I feel like one of those guys who posts a thread and gets NO help at all. Makes me want to close down off topic.

10-02-2009, 01:44 AM
I hear NewCelica.org or what-the-fuck-ever deals with new Celicas.

Edit: Forgot to mention. Since this is now MR2tech.com, MR2s never came with a 2ZZ. This could explain why you have no answers :D

10-02-2009, 02:29 AM
I should ban you for that one Tony.

10-02-2009, 03:01 AM
Probably. But asking a question like this and getting upset after 24 hours without an answer you find suitable is retarded, especially with a predominant(don't deny it) 5th generation user base.

10-02-2009, 04:39 AM

wtf, its a toyota engine, milage dont matter till 200 k, wait its a zz series engine, nevermind. you got the exception to the rule motor.

shouldnt a bought a 7th gen

oh btw edit: have u tried TAP or car-part.com?

Oh, sorry, didn't know you wanted me to pull a 2ZZ out of my ass. Hold on a few, let me dig around in there and see what I find...

:hehe: Couldn't resist. I've got my ears open, but there really aren't a lot of GT-S' in my area. There's a lot of fifth gen owners that frequent my store, and a few sixth, but that's really it. There's one Exige owner, but I know he doesn't have a spare motor. I'm useless when it comes to the 2ZZ.

10-02-2009, 10:24 AM
I have been running searches Luni, I just haven't found one that was in the right price range that didn't have a shit ton of miles on it yet.

10-02-2009, 11:42 AM
they seem to be around $2000 up for a good low miles long block. which is stupid. btw fedex will ship a short block for like 80 bucks plus insurance for a $1500 block. i think im gonna go this route in either feb or whenever my motor decides to crap out. whichever come first. there is a guy selling one in mobile with 135k i think for 1500. too high for my taste though. if it was 1000 id get it though.

10-02-2009, 04:34 PM
I found one.

Just ordered it today. 82k miles, out of an auto, its from an 02, it was 1900 shipped to me.

Tony, the thing that urked me is, people can post the biggest BS crap thats not important and theyll get pages of replies in hours.

I post something like Im looking for an engine, and nobody touches it. Just a simple "ill keep my eye out" sort of thing would have been nice.

Thats why I got "emo" or out of shape about it.

10-02-2009, 11:03 PM

WHen are you supposed to have it then? :D

10-02-2009, 11:45 PM
next week sometime.

10-03-2009, 05:49 AM
thats good milage, id still throw a gasket kit at it though. some gaskets are way easier out of the car

10-03-2009, 06:19 PM
I have a gasket kit.

What gaskets do you really think I need to replace Bugs?

10-03-2009, 06:45 PM
I want a 2zz also. I want a 2000-2002 MRS to go with it. Also a hardtop for it. And suspension upgrade for it. Now that would be fun.

10-03-2009, 11:40 PM
valve cover, lower oil pan, vvtli body, timing chian tensioner, rear main, front crank seal. check lift bolts before you put it in.

10-04-2009, 01:16 AM
fatman wouldnt it have been better to get the short block for 1250 and reuse your old head, just pay 50 dollars to get it cleaned and decked?

10-04-2009, 03:27 AM
he has a used head i think. the block would cost him about 1500 from toyota with a dealer discount like i have. unless he got an employee to get it for him. im gonna use trd motorsports and let you know how it goes

10-04-2009, 03:28 AM
new short block > used engine

10-04-2009, 04:02 AM

I want to pull one out, put one in.

Not to mention Ill still have all my other shit. Hell, if I wanted to, I could build this other one up and save it for the 2nd misshift. Cause we all know 7th gen celica drivers fucking suck and it will happen eventually. Look at vip09, hes done it twice or 3 times now.

10-04-2009, 04:13 AM
Just build the head up so that it can rev to 11k or 12k. Then leave the redline stock.

10-04-2009, 08:08 PM
Bugs, out the top or bottom easier?

And wiring harness in the car peeled off the engine, or taken out of the car with the engine?

10-05-2009, 12:28 AM
laziness<doing shit the right way

but i understand alough i wish id got a new short block for my truck because i ended up with a mid milage engine i gotta do the timing chain on

so i kinda go skrewed but im going to resurface the head, install new vavle stem seals and replace all the gaskets and seals and call it a day

10-05-2009, 04:31 AM
leave the harness on the engine and it comes out the top. leave the pwr steering in the car. easiest fwd toyota motor ive puled

10-05-2009, 07:15 AM
22r is easier

so is a 4a/7afe

btw on yous guys cars is it possible to leave the compressor hooked up to the lines and unbolt it from the engine, then sit it off to the side

10-05-2009, 04:39 PM
22r aint fwd. but yes mine came out in 45 min. yah 3 wire engine hookup.

10-05-2009, 04:51 PM
Bugs, will it come out with the header on, or do I have to take the header off while its in the car?

10-06-2009, 01:30 AM
i left the header on. the ac comes off the block and rolls off the side onto the passenger headlight. put a towel between it and headlight and it will be fine. dont need to pull radiator, fans or anything in front.

call me if you need help baby
