Hey guys, just wondering what all I can swap into the 1994 celica that is a drop in, or minimal welding required job. Also woudn't mind upgrading the stock one a little bit, but I've heard the 5sfe isn't as reliable modded as other engines. Just want it to kinda kick in a little more up top, and maybe some more low end too.

well adrian on this forum did a 1mzfe swap iv spoken to him and he says the car feels great far better than what it was stock he loves it and uses it daily.

im also about to start the swap in my gen 5 celica which is also going to have a 1mzfe motor under the hood . really if i was you i would start searching reading and try to decide what you really want then start to find a donor car, which in my opinion is better than searching for parts because that would take a lot of time where as a running donor car just needs stripping which is when you learn what it takes to get it back up and running in the celica , which is what im about to learn [ lol ] but seariously a v6 in a celica is kinda cool - so here goes.........................good luck with what ever you decide

Thanks guys, I really am just looking to swap because the 5sfe has low oil pressure for like 10 seconds after starting her up, that can't be good :(

I was actally hoping a 4age might fit, but I am really open. I am a huge toyota fan and know about all of their engines (just about) my family has owned tons of toyotas, the first toyota van, the first toyota truck, I have had a tercel, a celica, and now another celica, my brother had a celica, we now have a camry, we once had yet another tercel......and that is just scratching the surface...
But yeah I know which toyota engines I like, just don't know which will fit....easily

I like the 4A series (4agze, 4age, etc.)
2jz (I know these won't fit lol)
3sgte
4efte (but not for the heavy celica)
and I woudn't mind the v6. The camry has one, and it is a slow car, but, it is also the station wagon model....and automatic.

the camry v6 is becoming a popular swap

1mzfe or 3vzge (i believe) are the 2 v6 people use

iv just started my v6 swap i got the camry donor car stripped on sunday - iv been looking at the wiring its a little bit much to take in at first .but luckily my mate pete who is a toyota technition can read the diagrams in his sleep and is not worried about the wiring . this weekend im removing the 3sge motor and we are hoping to get the v6 in the celica and bolted up on its mounts. [ well thats the general idea anyway ].

Damn I have the 1994 GT. I am guessing that I can't swap in a 4age without the 7afe trans. Oh well, off to school, will do research on it later. Hopefully my engine holds out!

P.S. really want to go 4age, or something under $1000 (seen 4age's silvertop engines for 800 local)

you have a GT, its not cost effective to go the A series engine. if you had an ST then yes, your cheaper options are a 2nd gen 3S-GTE or 1MZ-FE both are about 900-1000 on ebay. the 3rd gen 3S-GTE is a better engine but a little more $$$

I will look into those.....
I am suprised I cannot easily find a write up for how to put a 4age silver top into one of these celica's....Googled, Binged, nothing :(

I really hope to go 4age, because, I can use it for an open wheel race car later down the line:

Yep, I am planing ot build one later.

But yeah the engine is still holding out, we shall see, when it goes out. Taking the best care of it possible, but it's not getting any better. I am thinking it needs a high volume toga oil pump to push past the 300k mile mark (at 211k right now)

But if anyone can find a how to guide that would help me go 4age, I would appriciate it very much indeed :)

5.0L Ford V8.
The Modular 4.6 is more compact, it would leave more room to work around.

It worked in the S.H.O. 6cyl and that was a damn good engine (Yamaha), so I don't see why not.
