View Full Version : I finally hit fuel cut in my 165!

Was driving back from the gas station and was on the freeway, decided to open 'er up and at 4500'ish RPM my face hit the wheel and my CEL went on and I was like 'omg wtf' so I keep driving home, taking it up the off ramp, get up to about 2500 rpm and BAM face in wheel CEL goes on again.

get home, check it, error code 34 which is fuel cut.

My only question is, why was it fine with this boost level before (~10.5PSI) (I have a MBC) but now it's complaining and cutting out my fuel.

No, the only question is - if you were at 10.5 psi, and you open her' up, what psi were you hitting?

Meh, I was hitting fuel cut with basically stock everything. It annoyed me so I pulled the TPS (not throttle position sensor) hose. Ghetto 'fix'? Yes, but it doesn't cut fuel anymore :P

I also run without the boost pressure sensor hose hooked up. Ive been running like that for close to 4 years now.

Hey guys wouldn't he disconect the map sensor hose. Then his stock boost gadge will not show boost. Since basically the map sensor is for the boost gadge and fuel cut not afr. This is just my gen 2 knowledge. Does a gen 1 3sgte have a knock sensor just asking I really don't know?

Yeah if disconnected the stock boost gauge will not work. But that thing is worthless and you should be running a proper boost/vac gauge anyway. You will also not have any over boost protection so be smart about it. Yes the 1st gen 3sgte has a knock sensor.

Which I'm beginning to think is a notorious sensor for failure. Joel had to replace his already, and mine is coding now. Anyway yeah, that stock boost needle is worth less than the stock oil pressure needles or a non-wideband aftermarket AF:R gauge, I don't miss it at all.
