so me and my wife went to the junk yard today to look around, i noticed a 4th gen that i had never seen there before so i go pop the hood and the first thing i look at are the stickers on the hood which both say 3sgte and the stamp on the fire wall say st165 so i start looking at the engine and then i realize that it has a 3sfe in it

on the 5th gen it would have st185 on the fire wall if it were an all trac
and the gts are st184
i thought it would be the same for the 4th gen but st165 for the all trac
it was laying frame and i didnt have the time to jack up the back of the car to see the rear end

it would be hard to swap out the ST165 firewall.

There is one known st165 with a non turbo motor swap in it, not sure which n/a engine as I forgot. The owner couldnt afford a 3sgte at the time supposedly. It was red if I remember correctly. I cant imagine driving one of these n/a, I mean they are slow enough when they are stock haha.

Pics tell all........but if they hadn't I'd have said that theres no reason to switch out a firewall anyway. Widebody ST16xs are the same from the front bumper to the rear seam weld with the exception of the floorpan allowing room for the prop shaft. It wasn't until the 5th Gen that there was a serious reduction in the total number of interchangable parts.

Actually, I'm surprised there aren't more Alltrac NA cars around.

previous owner prob blew the 3sgte and couldnt afford another. but can access a 3sfe for free... it prob didnt work out and jus decided to junk it.

my friend totaled his mr2 turbo, we installed a blown 3sfe in there and insurance took the car. we kept the 3sgte w/ tranny.

I'd bet that's technically fraud ;)
