Okay, so it happend last thursday July 30th 2009. My wife got into a rear end accident, she was doing 45 miles per hour getting onto the Highway, when someone hauling some major A$$ (about 80+mph) slammed right into the back of her. She was fine no one was hurt, however the cars rear end was a mess. Bumper wash smashed to hell, guard was smashed, and it was resting on the exhaust to which melted it to the exhaust.

Took it to an estimater and they estimated the damages around $1208.00 for repair, parts, laybor, etc.

Here's why YOU should do your own work, and POCKET the change!
Their insurance cut the check for the $1208.00

New Bumper: $31.00
Junk yard Bumper guard & styrofoam: $10.00
Wetsand primer: $5.00
Custom private shop paint match: $30.00
Clear Coat: $15.00
Sandpaper 800grit, 1000grit, 1500grit, 2000grit: $9.00
Buffer, Compound, wax,: $0.00 (free already had it normally $10-$15)

Total Amount for repairs: $100.00

Profit: $1,108.00 (Banked BOO-YA!)

So the next time you get into a scrape, fender bender, rear end accident, and the insurance says "take it to a body shop and have it professionally done!" Tell them... "send me the check, i'll choose the body shop on my own" ( And DO IT YOURSELF, save TONS of money, and make yourself a pretty penny in the process!)

Question: If you pocketed the $1100, why not PUT THAT TOWARD YOUR REAR AXLES???
