im looking at buying a celica this week, mainly the ST184R model but was wondering if anyone knew the exact differences between the '89 SX model and the '94 SX model? im pretty sure there was only two series during this model but for the life of me can not find any info out on the web, any help would be appreciated.

the 184 was released as 90 - 93 here in aus. the 89 was a 4th gen, and 94 was a 6th gen.

in the 184 range there isnt much difference besides aesthetics from year to year. if you are lucky you might pick up one with a sunroof. look for it, cause you will definatly not regret it.

yeah, the engine has very minor differences too in the series 2, but has the exact same output. if you wanna know, the aesthetic differences are, the series 2 has different standard alloy wheels (MUCH nicer), series 2 front bumper has moulded in sections for foglights, whereas the s1 bumper just has a wider opening. the s2 taillights have a dark border around them with rounded edges and the badging is different. s2 models were the first to use the new toyota logo badge. also interior wise, the trim tends to be almost exactly the same, but imo the s2 has a much nicer shifter.

there were some ST184s made in the late months of '89. Nov, dec i think.. The 89-90 models have celica sticker on boot, whereas 91+ have toyota symbol and celica badge..

yah, its scary to think, that the 184 was designed and developed probably around 1987 or 1988
