Welcome aboard!

Doubt it's a Corolla motor, all fourth gen Celicas were equipped with 2.0 liter S blocks, old Corollas always had an A block, either 1.6 or 1.8 liter. It'd be one hell of a job to fab mounts for a smaller motor!

Camry is very possible, they were still equipped with the 3S-FE for a few years after the Celicas stopped using it. After that, they had the 2.2 liter 5S-FE, as did later Celicas.

Anyway, congrats to your daughter, if you have any questions just let us know!

So what hes saying is that the 2.0 out of an 86-90 camry will work as will the 2.0 out of the 86-89 celica EXCEPT GTS

How about the 3sfe in a 96 rav4? Id say the block and internals are the same, show to have the same stroke, compression, and bore.

All NADM Celicas came with a 2.0 Liter S block.

I am not sure if Oz got the AT160 or not.

Actually the internal differences are numerous. The 96/97 Rav4 has the same head as the second revision 5S-FE, so the valves are larger and the cams slightly more aggressive. The bottom end is a bit stronger, similar to the difference in first gen 3S-FE and 3S-GE blocks.

But yes, it's easily swapable. With the original electronics the ECU will barely notice the difference, but HP will be increased a good 15 ponies.

One idea I've toyed around with is swapping in a 3S-FE from a 98/99 Rav4, as in wiring and ECU too, for the distributorless ignition. Not really worth it for such modest gains though.

Oz did get the AT160 with 4A-GE motor from the Corolla.
They are super scarce now
You could fix it or convert to the 3S motors but will need
another box, shafts, crossmembers, radiator, engine mounts etc
