View Full Version : Real stupid question, 2003 GTS...

OK, I've been car shopping and have test driven 4 Celica GT-S's (2002-2004).

Not a single one has a trunk hatch release lever by the usual gas tank door release lever like my 95 has.

What gives? Did toyota do away with this feature? I don't think so as I found an online parts store that shows the release cable:

Trunk release cable (http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getJointLocator&siteid=215151&chapter=&Sectionids=0,4486&groupid=51911&subgroupid=2395&componentid=0&make=34&model=Celica&year=2003&graphicID=8514465&callout=11&catalogid=2&displayCatalogid=0)

(See item 11.)

Where is it?

I don't think 7th gens came with a lever like ours do.
AFAIK there's only the handle on the hatch.

Haven't seen it mentionned in the owner's manual, seems to be electric only, gotta use the center console switch.

Wonder why the need for the cable then.....

I agree, most likely electric with console switch (perfect) or manual with the key and handle.

Guess I will find out when I get my GTS this week.......
