Ive been thinking and decided that if i can find one, and afford it i want to the the GTE swap in my 162.

Whats the avg price of this swap?
Where can i source an engine/Clip?
How much wiring will need to be redone with the new harness?

No. You're not allowed to decide until people answer your other thread. :hehe:

Last time I checked a Japanese complete motor (engine, trans, ecu, wiring) ran around $2000-2500 shipped. It's been a while, though.

Wiring's easy as hell, if you can convince Murgy to do it... :hehe:

But check the stickies in the FI forum, newb! :) Most of your questions are answered pretty throughly.

P.S. Moving to my section...

Cannot help with the cost issues and sourcing, but think wiring is not too bad.

Hardly anyone in the UK does this swap for some reason, so my knowledge on it is limited to what I have learned from on line site, which you have here..

Sorry, cannot help more in a slacker type way!

What trans did yours come with?

Im going to try to find one with an MR2 LSD trans to save a little bit of money not having to buy an LSD

Mine came with the U140E. Auto. Almost all of them do. I'd say 95%+ of all 4th Gen 3SGTEs come auto. So be warned. I'm going to run a normal E153 from a ST185.

i think he meant a gen 1 into a 4th gen. either way whatever you think it might cost you, double that number.

So add up the $ of everything you will need. Multiply by 2 and be happy if you can do it for less and not more.

I know I always say this, but if you can do a good price, I could probably help offset some of the cost buy picking up your old block (specificly the head). Anything else you don't use I might pick up.

I know that will be in the future a bit, but keep me in mind

For some reason i cannot directly send the link, BUT go to search and do this:
Toyota/Lexus
90-93 Celica
Front Clip
It's going ridiculously cheap, like $1,335?
Get it, NOW!

Kinda off topic but clips never seem to sit well with me. I know the rest of the car is usually trashed somehow and the clip is the easiest and best way to get the motor and put it to good use, but I still always feel bad seeing such nice cars just sawed in half.

My brother did a 3SGE swap into his 4th gen, some how, some way, and seeing how he works and such, I'm sure a 3SGTE could be done without too much hassle. Just try not to blow as many engine as he has... =D
