I am going to try to put a v6 in my celica over the summer. Anyone know what kinda engine i should use?

4.3 chevy

J/k, There are a few people using the v6 from a camry. There are a few threads here about it so search around and If you still have some questions, PM the owners of those cars. If you do this swap, start a thread in the project section so that we can all watch.

the 1mzfe is a nice one i think if i was going to swap v6 that's what i'd do... then supercharge the shit out of it

06-05-2009, 05:02 PM
Yeah I want to supercharge it. But could I wait to do that? Or would I have to supercharge it while I do the swap? And thank you for telling me about the treads.

It would be smart to do it all at once... just makes it easier because you can hook it all up while the motors out and then just drop it. It really matters on your budget though so... up to you

It would be easier to do the supercharger install with the engine out of the car.

I'm kind of worried that you came right out and said I'm putting a v6 in my car followed by a "what engine should I use?". I think you need to do a little more research first and find out whats out there then post back with more specific questions. fiberwizard (i believe thats his sn) on here is currently in the process of doing a v6 swap with a 1mz iirc.

super charged 3vz-fe........ for the record..........

it all depends on your budget and knowledge...........

it is a massive learning curve...... i spent like a whole year researching before i even decided to do the swap........and my mates talk me into supercharging............

being fairly mechanicaly minded i had figured out most of what i had to do...........before commencing.......

if there is anything you need to know don't hesitate to shoot me any questions.......

if you want to supercharge you got 2 options.......

the 1mz-fe with the TRD supercharger..........expensive but real good........
as i am using the 3vz-fe and want an intercooler BOV and other cool bits..... i went with a supercharger off a 1ggze.......but the TRD charger i beleive will fit..........

the only difference between the 1mz-fe and the 3vz-fe, is that the 1mz is an all alloy motor and internals are weaker to that of the 3vz....... but size, engine mounts, bellhousing, on both are the same.........

now i ask which one sounds like the better option for your requirements........

sorry for getting that wrong.

But you just confirmed the point I was trying to make. You can't just research for a month and delve into something like this. To do it right, you got to take up the time to learn HOW to do it right.

theres a tread on this in a alltrac here

theres a swapped v6 thread on 6gc

due to extreame lack of sleep ill let u find both

Thanks joes, I did dive into it not looking at it to much. I do need to do my research more.

Twin turbo, supercharged V8. Wow.

Still, I kinda wish the guy had used a normal Celica or All Trac and not an RC...

Thats crazy.

check this out

ha this is a celica that is here in australia....... he is a regular on toymods.net

an australian forum for all modified toyotas...... of which i am a member of ....

his name is justen....and this was an alltrac limited edition ( numbered) group A celica.......

this thing is mental......... and there has been so much work done to the chassis to get this thing to a point where it can handle the force of a v8......

you can check it out here..........

and his specs.........

GT8 - TT1UZ GrpA GT4......( twin turbo... 1UZ)
388rwkw (16psi) (ratio is 75 kw per 100 HP)
11.7@122mph (12psi)

I did not read much of this, but I would go 1MZFE.

1mz is good n/a or light boost
3mx is iven bettere due to more displacement and vvti
3vzfe is better for boosting but is heavy

07-10-2009, 03:13 AM
that ting only has 388 at the wheels? i would have thought significantly more. interesting.

07-10-2009, 04:36 AM
Just to clarify that was 388 rwkw which is approximately 520 hp if I did the math right.

If you got that the first time then nevermind. :)

07-10-2009, 01:22 PM
520 hp in a 5th gen. It seems a cool thing to do but overkill. I would be missing my celica by the time i were to finish a project that big. What is rwkw?

07-10-2009, 03:04 PM
i would have guess that motor much higher. although i do have to admit i'm not that familiar with that v8.

RWKW....... or Rear Wheel KillaWatts..........

its just some new fandangle way that the car co's here rate engine power.....

sillly i think.... but what can ya do..lol.....

he doesnt drive this much on the street ( i beleive) as a twin plate button clutch is hard to use constantly at traffic lights....lmao...... and i dont blame him..........

I see lol
