So, I am looking for a 3s to swap into my 5th gen gt-s. I have come across this one. Its selling for a decent price and is local, so I don't pay shipping costs.

Take a look http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/pts/1150384288.html

and tell me what you think please.

its from a 90 alltrac and has been sitting for two years (out of car)

i have talked to the guy and he said it ran great prior to ripping it out.

also, it has compression at 150 across the board.

this is the 1gen 3sgte. i'd say go with the 2nd gen motor. Plus, your swapping from a 5sfe to 3sgte.. your going to need wire harness plus ecu.

well it comes with the harness, i think he said he had the ecu aswell.

thats the one i need right? (alltrac)

i thought this was a 2nd. it came out of a 5th gen alltrac

i have even found a 3rd gen. but idk how to go about swapping that one in

A big give away (just looked at the picture, although not pictured) is the Water-Air Intercooler that were on the Gen 1 and 3+. Gen 2 was an Air-Air intercooler.

2nd gen 3sgte
-intake manifold is different, it has 8 runners and the emblem on top says
"TOYOTA 2000 TWIN CAM 16"
-valve cover says "TOYOTA"
-long protruding breather tube from the valve cover

i wouldnt waste my time on a 1st gen. there arent as many aftermarket parts for them and that thing didnt even fit right in my buddies 2nd gen alltrac, he couldnt even close the hood all the way.

and i have actually been looking into getting a rear clip

and convert the car to awd aswell

much more work is involved with awd conversion. plus, finding parts are pretty hard..

technically the 1990 alltrac is a second gen alltrac, being as the st165 was the first celica to be an alltrac...i had to school my roommate on the gen lingo. he got confused with engine gens and car gens mixing and matching

You found a rear clip from a GT4?

ryansk8
05-08-2009, 09:17 AM
yeah, from a 92 RC

had the front clip, with trans, rear axel, diff... all the essentials.

it was a while back though (around 6-7 months)

it was in San Diego

i wish i would have bought it, just thought i might come across another one

where are you located in Cali? im in the 909 area and theres this shop right off the 60 freeway. cant remember the name of the shop, but they specialize in jdm engines. i was just there the other day price shopping for a 2jzgte for my brother. they had quite a bit of 3sgte there but they were mainly for mr2. i quoted for the mr2 engine and trans, and he wanted 1100 for it. i was like.. wow.. pretty cheap if you tell me.

You found a R-E-A-R clip fomr a GT4?......???

ryansk8
05-09-2009, 02:59 AM
comes with the REAR axel and diff. they reffer to it as a REAR clip because your taking the whole powertrain from an AWD car. unlike a front clip where its choped off. At least that is what i've always heard. I know a couple guys who've bought rear clips to corolla 110s (the WRC rolla)

ryansk8

correct me if im wrong, but thats what we call them

And ZEN im in the IE aswell :)

Usually when I hear someone refer to a rear clip, or a front clip for that matter, they are talking about the half with the engine in it. SO when you say you got a rear clip from a GT4 I started thinking, "uh....what's he talking about?"

I have never hear of someone taking a GT4 rear clip.....though I suppose if those are the parts you're after it would make sense.

ryansk8
05-11-2009, 02:13 AM
i've seen some pretty quick tc's
my friend put a charger on his gets up pretty quick

and yeah i would like to make my celica AWD, although it would probably be cheaper to get an actual alltrac. but whatever i want to convert it to a gt4
