ok total noob question but since i am a noob. What is the difference between cool air intakes and a short ram intakes

hmmm I guess i should add, is there even a difference between the two?

Yes. A cold air has longer piping, and routes differently to pull in the cooler air from close to the ground, cooler air means denser air. A short ram pulls air directly from the engine bay, it's warmer but in theory is traveling at a higher velocity, thereby increasing the amount of air the engine ingests. Also, the different intakes work in a way where a short ram will give you more mid-range power, whereas a cold air will typically help out up top.
