are the 90-92 valve covers interchangeable to the 93+?

I just painted my Fiancee's valve cover and it looks so much better then mine.

The short answer is yes...but

90-91 are the same and 92-93 are the same. They are interchangeable from a fit standpoint but you would needs plug wires that matched since the rev 1's are round and the rev 2's are square and the breather port is missing as well.

IIRC, the breather port on the 90-91 was replaced by the pcv on 92-93. All other years and types of 5sfe valve covers may be used also, the only one that has a major difference is the MR2 cover which has the text/writing/whatnot backwards on it as the engine is mounted in the opposite direction of all others.

The round and square boots that cover the plug wire holes can actually be interchanged on *most* plug wires simply by pulling them off.

I just have this one little guy here at the bottom left of the photo like the 93 does, but I don't have that other tube off of the top right of the VC (mounted in the celica)

Bottom of the photo didn't come out, but yeah, that's the rev1 (90-91) valve cover, and yours is from an MR2. Nice paint job btw. You can use the rev2(92-99) cover if you like, you'll have about four options- you can change out your intake manifold to make use of the pcv filter(thats the one that sticks up off the top), you can use these little bitty filters that you can find at about any parts store and use it on the hole(they're called breather filters), you can attach a bit of vacuum hose to the end of the pcv and just run it out somewhere to vent it, or you can just find a way to plug it up. I guess it's just a matter of preference as long as you keep using the tube on the side with that last option.

I'd end up just cutting that little plastic snorkel looking thing down and mounting a breather to it or just t-line it into the vaccume hose on the side.

BTW, here is a better shot of it not mounted

as you see, the nipple is on the top left of it. that's the same spot for the 93+ ones. but as stated, I don't have that snorkel one.

Yeah, the 92+ ones. Not sure if they removed it at some point after 94 though. Never really thought to look.

Yeah looks good. I need to have mine powder coated. I painted mine black a few years ago but the gloss wore off after only a few months so it's just a funny flat black color now.

I'll go grab the camera and show you how the Celica's came out. if you are interested, I can paint your VC for free if you pay shipping and materials.

I did the blast, chemical wash, high heat primer bit. It's just the heat that got to it I guess.

We've got a member here who is now doing powder coat so I'm gonna send him a bunch of stuff. Thanks though.
