The weather was great today, so I decided to detail my car.
I started out with a basic wash, maguires swirlX, and maguires tech wax. Came out great. It was my first time using the swirlX, and I have to say, I really like it a lot.

Looks good, but I have one question....

Why didn't you get the projector headlamps and the clear high beams? :lolhittin

I know... but he did the rest of the GT-FOUR conversion on his car... aside from the rear diff, etc...

Im not spending a grand on a set of headlights.
Any future money got goes into the car will go into making it faster.

Here is a before shot. Keep in mind this was actually really clean and nice looking in person. The flash exaggerates it and washes out the shine you normally see.

now here it is after the swirlX, and wax.

You can probably get better results with a buffer, but I did this all by hand.
I also dont know how long these results will last, as I assume the swirlX and wax is just filling in a lot of the scratches, but either way, im happy with the results.

Who did your paint job? I am jealous. I wish my paint was that pristine, but that's what I get for doing it myself. lol.

Nice job, man. Looks amazing. I know what wax I'll be using next time.

Aside from the hood and bumper, the entire car is 10yr old OEM paint.
I bought the car with 33k on the clock years ago and was always good about keeping it clean. Now with it getting close to 100k, that effort has paid off. :)

Btw, this isn't all because of wax.
If you want similar results, you should:
1. wash/dry the car
2. claybar
3. swirlX
4. Techwax

cool, thanks lagos. never knew much about detailing or how to do it right. I can't believe thats 10 yr old. oem paint. That is unbelievable. I just have spent so much time fixing things that kept breaking in the past 3 years that I haven't had the time to research or get involved with detailing.

Are those 4 steps the process you follow? I assume swirlx is kind of like a light rubbing compound and techwax is the final glaze type coat?

yeah thats what i used.
Swirlx is a mid grade compound, while techwax is the wax.
These are all Meguiar's products.

I detailed mine yesterday as well and i love that smooth fresh wax feeling! Looks great Lagos. I suggest doing a 3 stage on the car to get more of the scratches out. I plan on doing a 3 stage next weekend...hell my car is back on the road and on the regular maintenance schedule again!

Meguiars FTW!

I dont have a buffer, and even if i did, there is no electricity in the garage. So it gets done by hand.

Damn that looks good!

I'll have to try that before the Dragon.

My car has a lot scratches and some dents, but overall, most of the paint is in nice shape.
