View Full Version : New 4th Gen for me

03-12-2009, 02:47 PM
So about three or four weeks ago I bought a 1988 Alltrac that is in the middle of a JDM 185 swap. Everything is pretty much ready to go except for some miscellaneous mechanical and wiring issues. It is actually pretty close to being done.

I am taking delivery of it today. It is loaded with extra parts and is pretty dusty, so no pics for you bastards just yet! My camera is broken anyway....the telescopic lense is broken....need to get that serviced. But all in due time. So that makes 4th Gen #3 for me....at least for the time being. As soon as I get the camera fixed I'll be taking pics of my other 1988 Alltrac for the FS thread I have posted everywhere.

Yay me!

Didnt want to go through with the other 165? Is the new one still getting the 185 motor or the 215 motor?

03-16-2009, 12:16 AM
Yeah......the other 165 is more work than I want to deal with. I don't have time these days. The one that just got delivered has th 91 JDM 185 motor in it, but I still have the 215 sitting in the garage ready to go. This new one got delivered with wiring needing to be finished up.......that's what I was told. Little did I know that all that had really been done was dropping the engine in the hole. I'll have to install the radiator, the cruise, even the N-S AND E-W corssmembers. Did I mention that one of the axels needs to be installed. He shorted me the 185 TMIC as well. I'm kinda pissed.

-Would bother with the cruise imo but thats just me.
-I wouldnt have the engine hanging on with just the dr and pass motor mounts for too long b/c they might get damaged. Most ive seen already have cracked rubber not unless you are going to fill them with poly.
-You can get those 185 TMIC on alltrac.net for like $5 haha. You dont want that junk anyway. I would just run the 165 WTA for the time being. I still use it and it does heat soak in traffic but so will the tmic. Boosting hard on the highway it is ice cold when I pull over and put my hand on it. This is with a ct27 @ 16psi, and a garrett 57trim @ 11psi. But I still plan on going front mount when I have the extra money to order the piping.

Yeah.....he did give me the 165 IC, but I'm kinda stickler when it comes to doing what you say you're going to do.

I'm also thinking of just doing the 215 swap right away instead of wiring up the rest of the 185 motor. I'm asking myself why it would be ok for me to drive around with a 185 motor when I have a best lying dormant in the garage.......makes no sense.

I have two st185 TMIC's, just thought I'd add that

what is to become of this ST215motorized-ST165?

DD? Autocross? Sell to me ?:P

i mayb mistaken but i do believe i remember reading on at.net that you have completed the 215 swap before, havnt you? or do i remember wrong?

03-16-2009, 05:55 PM
You remember wrong.....I have most of the stuff for it....just lazy and lack time. This 215powered beast will be used for competition....and then sold to Legacyofdan in the future.....in the year 2000 ;)

I agree, hate that type of BS. Deliver what you agreed upon or return some of the $$$!
