I have a set of TRD springs for the 165. Do you happen to know the spring rates? I tried searching but with no luck. Not even sure they were published.

No need to go through any trouble, just asking if you knew off hand. Ive been trying to find the spring rates of the 3 sets of springs I had to see which were the highest so I can run those. Intrax, B+G (sold them), TRD and I didnt find any info on them.

Im thinking of selling the TRD if they feel softer than the Intrax that I currently run.

Back on topic, sweet score on the TRD struts. Arent they made by KYB like the regular struts are? Maybe they can do something for you.

I dunno about the KYB thing.....wouldn't surprise me. I'll keep everyone informed/take pics. I do know from pics I saw of ST185 TRD shocks that they press all kinds of info + TRD logo into the housing. I expect to see the same on mine.

Lemme know if you get rid of those springs; I'll take them off you hands. ;)

I thought stock struts were made by Tockiko(sp?)?

Uh, yeah.....brand fuckin new. Those rears clearly have not been bolted to ANYTHING. The japanese guy who I'm communicating with described (or translated) them as being "junk". He said one or two of them appear to be leaking gas and/or oil. It is obvious that they are not junk. Even if they are leaking I can have them serviced. I'll have KYB do it....they are in Addison, IL which is relatively close to me.

Even if that doesn't work out.....I'll have only spent a whopping $49.00 on them :bigthumbu

Wow that is f'in awsome! I should just sell you my TRD springs so you can have the UBER-rarest setup know to the 4th gen world haha.... Not unless you can find TRD springs in new condition also!

We'll see.....right now I'm thinking of snagging the Cusco/safety 21 skid pad off of Alltrac.net if I can. Finding old stock TRD springs would probably be really hard.....sometimes you have to be in the right place at the right time.....which is why I'm looking all the time so I can be ;)

I would assume that they were swapped out. KYBs were what they predominantly came from the factory equipped with.

I actually have not. I think one need to be serviced. I'm also a bit of a nancy when it comes to using such a pristine set of rare units in perfect form.

I know, I know. I'm actually pretty eager to see how they do on the ST165 when I get that all done. Since their rates are beefier than normal I'd expect the car to be more agile. Time will tell.

rear as stock I feel the 165 is woefully under damped, add in wear and tear and the difference with new shocks will be very cool...worth getting them pretty bits dirty ..

RedRkt01
06-09-2009, 01:23 AM
Yeah, the dampening force in the front for the TRD units is 1274/294N and the rears are rated at 1176/441N. The car should dampen better than knew iwth these suckers on there. Now all I need are 88ST165's TRD springs......I doubt he'd give them up though.

Haha they are not as good looking as those struts. Im going to put them on in the next few weeks and see how they feel. If they are too soft Id be more than happy to sell them to you haha.
