Sorry, I haven't put this up yet, I was in contact with a member that had some great material!

lol trance4c, awesome to see those pages up! I still have yet to get my sh!t together and sort my own sunroof out, but that will be coming soon, as soon as summer hits! Then I'll have some new pics I hope, and I'll edit it all properly! :D

Good luck with the repair!

Certainly! This information isn't in the BGB's or anything, so we definitely need it all in a central location.

Keep us posted on your photos, it would be great for people to see the parts for themselves.

Good diagrams. In theory, is the sunroof the same in the 6g and in the 5g?

So, if I dont disassemble the track or remove the actual roof panel, and I line up the linkage before bolting the motor down I can avoid having to re-adjust the whole roof? I assume I'll have to adjust the left to right difference on the cables, but I can get out of messing with all the shims and crap right?

edit: for clarification I mean stopping dis-assembly at step 6 and skipping to step 4 of reassembly (also skipping step 5 and 6 of reassembly). Note: PDF version of instructions

I just dont feel like screwing with all that, all that is wrong is the dang motor.

When my motor died on me, I just took out the sunroof control panel and the rearview mirror, then I just slid the upholstery from the roof very carefully from the rear. I could then access the motor unit. I didn't have to to disassemble the whole sunroof assembly IE the tracks and cables etc..

is there a way to adjust the sunroof? because at i high speeds i hear the wind going over it...so maby i can tight it up orsomething?

when its closed?

If so you need to add or remove shims.
Or you have a bad weatherstrip.

the strip looks fine and seems to be in good condition.

and yes, when its closed...and what do you mean by: add or remove shims?

there are shims that control how high the roof panel sits. In the write up it tells you how to inspect your sunroof to determine if you need to adjust anything.

could also be that the roof panel is at an angle or something, but I am pretty sure you would notice that.

are you sure its the sunroof? the mirrors on these cars can cause some sick wind noise.

yes im sure, because when i push the sunroof when its closed with my hand while im driving i can hear the wind harder...its like a wistle sound comming from it.
