i took s look at the website and didn't find any 3sge engines. how hard is it to convert obd2 to obd1 cause i found a complete 3rd gen 3sge engine, transmission, uncut wiring harness, and ecu for around $1200 shipped

lol you pretty mich just need that, maybe a few sensors and evap parts as to not have the check engine light on(i would never leave the ecu unhappy)

What year is that 3rd gen?

I'm not sure but I believe all of the 3rd gens are OBDII.

And I'm not sure but I know my 91 was OBD0, not OBDI.

That's a pretty smokin good deal. Only things that I'd make sure of having is the MAP sensor, igniter, coil and you'll have to figure out what 4-wire O2 sensor to use.

Oh and as to foreign engines. Just email them or call them.

You're right about that, I don't consider them OBD1 either though technically they are cause they have the CEL. I don't see where you would have to change anything as long as you use most all of the stuff that goes with the 3s.

Every single one of the sensors can be obtained from USDM models. I did extensive research and replaced the missing/broken units from my engine and stocked up on extras this way. For the the ST202 3SGE, the ST204 5SFE is your friend ;).

Now, getting a water pump... that's a bitch.

I'm pretty sure we can use the '95 MR2 Turbo pump.

part numbers are different... When I get a replacement I'll double check with the inventory and see what will probably fit. But not going to take the risk of taking off my water pump only to find I can't find anything that'll interchange.

Yup, I checked the numbers too. Their exploded diagrams look really similar also. I do think they interchange....at least for this application.....but I can't say for sure.

What else have you had a hard time getting ahold of?

Valve cover gasket and the spark plug tube gasket (which is actually another valve cover gasket)

Yeah........those were a bitch. I found a company that makes aftermarket gasket kits in the UK and bought 3 entire head sets......think I'll be covered for awhile.

eeesh. I started talking to him in '99 about various projects and he has never come through. Combine that with their unsavory reputation and the BBB filings and I cringe at even placing a phone call to that place.

Rumor has it that thye haven't been a reputable business since the mid 90's when their official affiliation with TRD ended. I also heard the business changed hands around the same time.

But i'm guessing your dealing with him/them have been alright.

I called them at a desperate moment.....and name dropped.....and still felt like I'd be taking a chance with them. I'm glad it's working out for you though. If you ever need anything I'd be happy to help......you've been doing it longer, but I think I've built a pretty solid system for acquiring the parts we need. I have made lots of friends on other continents. Lots of Aussie guys.

It depends on what you get.........I've bought a shit ton of stuff from over there in the last 9 months and not really had too much of a problem. I also have some buddies over in Europe....some swiss guys that'll help out.....not to mention dudes in the UK and Fensport.
