Hey everyone, I just spent Valentine's Day weekend in Chicago checking out this years Chicago Auto Show. As always, it was pretty fun, although this year there were noticeably less people attending the show. But, I attribute that to everyone is cutting down on luxury spending since the economy is bad. Anyways, we arrived at the show and as always, went immediately to the Toyota section.

Right away, it was very different than last years displays. If you look back at my 2008 Chicago Auto Show, http://celicatech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32167, Toyota had two turbo concepts for the corolla and some really sporty cars right up front. This year, Toyota, along with every import manufacturer, had their Hybrids right in front so you wouldn't miss them. They had the new Prius on a huge rotating platform with multiple Yaris' surrounding it. And unlike the last few years, Toyota had their huge Tundra/Outlander/Land Rover tucked away behind the stage, so you actually had to look for those to find them. I wasn't surprised though considered those three trucks averaged 15 or so miles per gallon.

Me and my girlfriend checked out the Prius, Yaris, the newer corolla, and the new Solara. Now I may catch some heat for this, but I actually like the new re-designed Prius. Check it out

As you can see the car doesn't have the huge roof and is more slanted, I think aesthetically, it's easier on the eyes. Along with the cars, Toyota had some cool info about the Prius. The concept originated in the late 80's from a competition between manufacturers to see who could make a car that had the lowest emmisions. Also, the Prius debut in 98' in Japan. So, a few little fun facts that I found interesting.

Me and my girlfriend own a 2001 Toyota Solara, and we love it. But the latest facias for the Solara are, in our opinion, very ugly. But check out the newer Solara, its sleeker and very nice looking.

This particular model was the Toyota Solara Sport , so it had a real race like interior, ergonomic steering wheel, red stitching, and the aero kit. We really like it and may in the future, trade in ours for this one.

The Toyota Venza was there, I like the car and the idea behind it, but the colors they have for it are kinda off setting. Most are dark brown colors, although one on display was pearl white and was very nice.

Instead of going on and on, I'll just paste my pictures from the show. Some cars that were of some interest was the new Nissan 370z (although it looked ricey with the new front bumper) the Skyline GT-R, Lexus IS250, Hyundai Genesis Coupe, and Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Concept. Enjoy!

Check out this CrAzY Rav-4 Concept!

Nissan's Hybrid car

Viper Concept (400hp, pure electric)

How about a Supercharged TC thats mostly Carbon Fiber?

The Lexus IS250, me and my girlfriend LOVE this car. We're thinking about purchasing one in the future.

Another Lexus, IIRC this was a IS or LS 350? Either way, just a beautiful car

Mitsubishi's Line of Cars - Hybrid and Evolution

Even German's are ricers

Check it out, VW was there with their talking Bug

This is a VW concept, I really like it. Resembles Mercedes in a way.

And Ford is coming out with a new re-designed Taurus :thumbsdow apparently it breaks in half for you, so you don't have to :bigthumbu

I thought I had pictures of the Genesis. Unlike last year, Hyunda had 2 Genesis' on the floor for people to get into. I had the chance to get in the red one, and I just love the interior. Everything like your controls and mirrors are right where you need them, the seats are extremely comfortable, I just cant say enough good things about them. The two on the floor were the V6 variants, but, Hyundai had another Genesis on an elevated display that looked more sporty than the other two, I assumed this was the turbo version. It had a bigger front air dam and different exhaust.
