I have been bugging this girl about this car for close to 3 months now...

She had no idea what was wrong with it. She had some problems out of town and got some work done to it. They replaced the fuel pump/strainer, the pressure regulator, the fuel filter, distributor, plugs/wires. She then drives the car home (about 100 miles) goes inside to get ready for work comes back out and the car won't start..Fast foward a few months and I offer her $500 after almost 3months of that she finally decides she wants to sell it.. She takes the $500 for it and I tow it to my storage building..

Next day I go to see what I can figure out..I already had a few suspicions about what it could be. I check spark..fine... fuel pressure at the rail...none. So I start working my way back and what do I find but a fuel pump disconnected from its fuel line and hanging from its wires..A botched repair..I was astounded!

So not only did I get a car for $500..all it took me was a couple hours to get it running again! I didn't even have to buy a part!!! to make the deal even better it has 175000 on the clock, a new set of tires, a panisonic cd player, pioneer speakers in the rear, and I'll be damned if the thing doesn't even have one dent in it! I couldn't believe it...It has been wrecked before but the repair was done properly, and it also has the classic problem of both fans staying on constantly but this is a trivial problem when you actually see it in person..Not to mention this is now the NEWEST car I have ever owned..

Sorry for the horrible pictures these are from my phone.

similar story here.. i got a free 89 camry 4cyl 5spd, they were going to junk the car but i told them i'll tow the car away, if i can fix it, i keep it. if not i will junk it. only problem was a disconnected wire to distributor next to egr piping.

that camry is 92-96 models but i cannot tell if its the early/later models. the side lights are later models and bumper is early models.

its listed as a 95...it was wrecked at one time I know.. one tell tale sign is that it is a 5sfe but the sticker on the hood says it is a 1uzfe so the hood came from a v6 camry. no telling really where they sourced parts from..

I think you mean a 1Mzfe. If it had a 1uzfe that would be pretty wicked. However, I also noticed that it has the headlights from a 92-93 Camry. The 94+ hoods shouldn't fit with 92-93 headlights, so if the hood came from a V6 model, it should have the 92-93 V6 engine listed (3vzfe)...

Nope..1mzfe..looked again last night..didn't mean to put that u in there I know better..

I don't know if what u are saying is true or not but if it is then they did a fine job of fixing it because everything fits perfectly..

camry coupe 5spd is too hard to find and prob want a grip of $$$...

2nd gen camry 87-91 v6 had the 2vz 2.5L
3rd gen camry 92-96 had the 3vz 3.0L

where was the 1mz used? tacoma? avalon? 4runner?

Well the hood was probably sourced from a 94 since the 1MZ took over in 94, but the 3rd gen camry didn't receive a facelift until 95. That's cool...I like the 92-94 front end better, but the 95-96 rear end better. Just gotta get the 92-94 clear corner lenses.

That does look like a damn nice camry. Lucky find.

They called those "American edition" Camrys, right? Precursor to the Solara?

American Edition came in 4 door too, I have only seen it on 4 door. The main difference were the option that came with the package and the shape of the tail lights. Buddy of mine's wife had one, a `97 model.
